It's common knowledge in 2019 that UVB is cut when having to reach through mesh, plastic, or glass. To compensate in this situation the strength of the bulb would need to reflect that by being more than the animal needs. The best route is to mount on the inside back wall, but I'm curious as to why no one modifies their screens with a fitted hole for the overhead UVB lamp. I've seen companies sell springs that adhere the lamps so they will stay when the lid is moved, also glossing over UVB loss, but why not insert them carefully so that there's no barrier? I know that keeping them away from the heat source is crucial, but especially with those stands-unless you have no lid you're cutting almost all of the beneficial rays with that method. And like this company is doing, they're suggested for use by reptile corporations. This confuses me completely. What am I missing here?

Hi I have a couple questions before I get a bearded dragon and you seem to know your stuff. I am planning on making a enclosure out of an old wood thing (I don’t know what it’s called) but it is 3ft wide 40in tall and 23 inches in length. I want to make all the sides glass and have the top be a screen. Here are my questions Is this cage big enough? Will the lights need to be closer to the ground since a bearded dragon will probably be lower to the ground and since the lights are so high up will he still receive the proper lighting? Can I put a basking lamp in the cage instead of on top of it? I’m thinking of putting a fairly large stick that will rise up if he gets to close to the lights will this be a problem? I have heard that bearded dragons should eat up to 20-100 crickets a day when they are young. But I have also heard that they will grow fast that way but will become too fat and have a shorter lifespan. How often should I feed them and how many crickets do then need to eat? What veggies do you recommend they eat? How high should I put a reptile hammock from the ground? Sorry for any grammar mistakes. I’m 11.

You always need a uvb bulb for beardies, I’m trying to get a reptisun 10.0 bulb atm bc those are the best ones and cover the largest area for a 40 gallon, which is what I have for my juvenile. @crys1859
4 жыл бұрын
I know that some people just go down to their local hardware store to get the tiles. That way they have the choice of texture of substrate that they want to have in the beardy tank. But I would recommend having a look into what texture is best for your specific breed of beardy (eg some species might like smooth textures so you would look at smoother tiles that are still a little bit textured, whereas some species might like more rough and rocky textures so you would look at the rougher tiles with some more bumps and things through it) , just so that it’s comfortable and feels safe in its home (enclosure/tank).

the game thief please have your mother watch this video. A heating lamp and UVB lamp are required for your beardie to survive. A heating matt doesnt do anything as beardies only absorb heat from the top. He most likely wont survive much longer if you continue to care for him that way. Meal worms are also very bad, go for crickets, superworms and roaches. Please have your mother watch my videos on caring for them.
