As I see this is about a year old, have you been faced with lightening nearby causing the system to crash and reboot. I am near the capital of lightening here in the US and experienced originally lightening knocking out the cameras so that they needed to be replaced. I replaced the electrical box with a plastic one and that eliminated that issue. Now I have a 16 unit NVR that lightening knocking the whole unit even though it's on UPS. boxes for this are connected to metal eve's and I think this is providing a ground that may be feeding back through the system to have it trip.

Hi, I ordered this just there. I live next door to my parents and want to put 4 cams around their house and 4 on my house. Can I do it so that I only need to run one cable between the two houses using a poe switch in their house and running a single cable to the NVR box in my house. I’m a little unclear on the connection to a network system. I assume since this can operate without an internet connection the cameras are getting POE power from being plugged into the NVR. Does the network system require a powered switch? I’m planning a network setup in addition to the security system. Just don’t understand if I need to purchase a POE switch for my network cabinet. I’m new and just learning about network setup.
@carsonmtech
3 жыл бұрын
Nope! Here is how it goes: - Cameras plug into POE NVR ethernet ports - NVR itself can plug into your network via any ethernet port on your network. i.e., it does not need a POE connection to your network since it is powered by its own external power supply and does not require power over an ethernet line TL;DR: You can plug the NVR into a regular non-POE switch, but you cannot plug the cameras themselves into regular switch.

What are the performance differences in bullet vs dome?
@carsonmtech
3 жыл бұрын
None really it’s purely a style thing and which you prefer. Bullet cameras are generally slightly cheaper so if you need to save money, you might by going with them over domes. The downsides of bullet cameras is it’s easier to tell where the camera is pointing at so if you don’t someone to tell that, then a dome may be the better option. Otherwise the Reolink domes and bullets are the exact same!

How to save on cables? Are the following variants possible?: Variant 1: If I want to cover several remote yards/zones, can I use ethernet hubs to save on cables? Can each zone have 3-4 cameras connected to a hub and then use a single cable to connect each hub to a centralized NVR in my home? And also use 4-port NVR to connect 4 hubs with 7-8 cameras connected to each hub? Variant 2: Do cameras have two ethernet ports - IN/OUT in order to chain a long line of cameras with one cable? A cable gets OUT of one camera and gets IN another camera and then all these cameras are connected to hub/NVR with a single cable. Leading a dedicated cable to each camera sounds ridiculously overwhelming.
