I`ve not used my drone for a while because of a dud battery. I now have a new battery, and am following the prcedures in your video. While doing the IMU calibrations, my controller gets stuck at 20%, and will not complete the calibration. Where am I going wrong? Having just looked up IMU calibration, it says it takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete. You cut corners in your instructions, perhaps you should have said how long cailbrations takes.

If your having problems with calibrations, try giving the front of the quad near the gimbal a sharp and hard tap, this sometimes will helps.

Hello, I just got the product and I am very ignorant and inexperienced. My question is, should I do all the calibrations before each flight? Or which ones? I would appreciate it if you could help, Urgent please :)

If you fly at the same location all the time, you only need to do the calibration once. However, if you fly in a new location a some kilometres away from your normal flying spot, you will need to recalibrate the compass for the new location. Then if you then go back to your first spot you flew your quad, you will need to recalibrate again. Hope that helps

This drone has to be registered? How hard is the test? Cheers.

In Australia, compulsory registration has not been finalized yet. So I can't answer your question. www.casa.gov.au/drones/register

So you don't need to do gyro calibration for each flight? I tried to fly my Fimi A3 first time this afternoon. Fail. Took off and landed on its back. So I thought maybe first read the manual and watch videos how to do the calibration? Fimi is different from other 'toy' drones I have. €279 is a fortune for me. Don't want to lose it!

Re-doing a Compass Calibration is only needed, if you fly in a different locations that are quite a few kilometers apart.. I fly at multiple locations all fairly close to my home, and have not had to re-calibrate

@@GarryPurcell I know you did your best to make the video. But it still wasn't clear how to hold the drone when calibrating the IMU with your controller and hands in front. I was waiting and waiting at 20%. Turned out I had the underside pointed at the controller. Had to be the top. It also skipped one rotation but said it was done 100% anyway. You see, when it comes down in a field chances are it will be a soft landing in cow poop. Or I think it was sheep. Or maybe a cocktail?

@@GarryPurcell The screen on the Fimi A3 controller is indeed very difficult to read outside. I'll order one of those Hubsan Sun shades. And maybe make some sort of 'dark room' hat? The Aosenma CG035 must be the worst buy ever. Holy cowshit that thing is crap. Just won't hold position. The optical flow sensor smelled burned soon I plugged it in so I can't use that. I bought it because the follow-me feature should be great with a dedicated button on the controller. And that is also why I bought the Fimi A3. First fly it though! It will probably be OK after the calibration. And hopefully it will give me confidence to trust the follow-me while riding my solar trike. In the settings there is the option to update the home-location to either where the drone is at that moment, or to the controller. I searched the internet to see if that indeed was the case. But strangely enough nothing can be found except for one French forum. You must imagine that when I can't see the drone through my solar roof. It is handy to have it fly towards me and not the take-off point. I don't want to ride all the way back. Instead I dismount my trike and fly it in manually. So if it already slowly comes towards me that will help. What I am not sure about is if the drone will return to the current location of the controller, or the moment where I selected to update the location? Not that is matters. I will basically have stopped already. But here too nothing can be found on the internet what the drone actually does. So I will have to test it myself.

@@driewiel I agree about the display being hard to see in bright sunlight. I made a video using the Hubsan hood, which solves the controller screen brightness issue kzitem.info/news/bejne/omx-lnpnkYF8ZHY They are cheap to buy and not too hard to fit, with minor modifications.

The calibration is made by following the controller screen prompts, as you have already found out. The main thing is to set the A3 orientation to match the pictures. The system will let you know when you have completed. Landing your A3, after you have pressed the "Return To Home" button, is easy, you simply cancel the descent, and manually land it.

@@gamingz5245, yeah. Now I have 32GB card inside the drone and ~1GB inside the controller. 32GB is literally more than enough (I could make a non-stop 1 hour movie from a drone!)! And that 1GB in RC is just for an emergency situation like if my drone suddenly falls down, I could press a filming button in a controller and it would record current drone's geographical coordinates. So I could find my fallen drone faster.
