You’re awesome, for sure following. Thank you for making practical videos without annoying music or a weirdly fake voice

Nice tutorial. I learned how to do buttonholes this way more years ago than I care to remember but I got spoiled by my one button setting. My machine needs to go to the shop and my backups are all pre1970. Needed a refresher on how to do buttonholes

I added buttonholes to the bucket hat I made for my son, so that I could add a chin strap to keep it on his head (and have the straps go through the buttonholes when the hat is reversed). Ended up doing something similar, glad I was on the right path - thanks for the tutorial!

I found this video really helpful as I was having trouble with my buttonhole presser foot so was happy to come across your video explaining the oldskool/manual way. At first it seemed complicated to do, because I was trying to follow your instructions to the T, but I realised I couldn’t do that because my machine is set up differently so I decided to follow the concept (using the guidelines you describe) but use my instinct a bit more with my machine and after practicing 20-25 buttonholes 😂, I did it for real on my main project and it worked I’m happy with it! 🎉

Great tutorial and was amazed to see how you had your serger thread in a jar. I purchased the special holders but will definitely keep this idea in mind. Ty

I’m going to try to use this good idea to make a buttonhole bit bigger of what it really is. Thank you.

Great video, I have a 1975 Bernina that does reasonable buttonholes, nkt as good as the singer (sorry Bernie), but I really wanted more control to get a perfect result on some Osnaberg fabric, which is quite mobile fabric I am finding. I’m looking forward to trying your technique soon. Right now I’m cross eyed from an evening struggling with buttonholes! Thanks again

Lol what? Where is the actual buttonhole? And then show us how to slice the fabric so it's actually open and usable. 😄

just use a seam ripper to cut it open. or even a blade

The best way to cut open a buttonhole is to put a pin sideways at the end of it (so you don’t cut through the end threads), start the cut with a seam ripper, and finish up with small scissors for more control.
