The dress is ADORABLE and I I’m so proud of your “Stripe Matching”! I saw it on you on Instagram Nikki. Just plain adorable! Appreciate the tutorial on the invisible zippers too.

Love this dress and I am in the process of making it. I am about to do the lining which I have never done before. So please could you recommend a lining fabric to use? I find there seems to be so many to choose from. Yours looks a nice lining in the video could I ask what it is you used? I was recommended in a fabric shop Habutai silk lining but it seemed very slippery and thought it might be too slippery for a first timer. Love all your videos ladies and the information you both provide is 1st class. Happy Sewing :)

Lovely video? But I am curious how you finish the armholes? It seems like it would need to be sewn around the armholes too?

Fab video ladies! How about one on how to replace a zip? I always shy away from doing it as it seems so much more effort than putting it in in the first place! x

Great blog - so, so useful. Love the fabric and fabulous stripe matching - how do you get it so precise?
@StitchSisters

Maggie Marlow we put one side of the zip into the dress and then used sewing tape to attach the other side after marking where it should go. It’s also essential that you cut accurately before beginning

Thanks ladies! Love your tutorials! How did you finish the armholes after you stitched the neckline and inserted the zip and get the dress to turn out?
@StitchSisters

That all depends on the pattern to be honest, just follow the instructions on your pattern.

The dress has little cap sleeves which you line with the lining fabric and attach. Once the main lining fabric is in you then handstitch the two together, stitching underneath the armhole

Hi Nicki and Rachel, I’m a *huge* fan of your channel! Thanks for the brilliant videos - they’re all informative and entertaining, and I’m quite certain I make up at least half of your monthly views as I often have your channel on in the background to keep me company! ;) I have a request - please could you do something about adding linings to garments that don’t have one in the pattern please? I’m thinking of when I’ve fallen in love with a fabric, then it arrives and it’s semi-see through and I can’t wear it by itself! Thank yooooooou xxx

Stitch Sisters yay! Thank you! Actually, I’m planning a Stitch Sisters marathon tomorrow as I’m going to be all studious and watch your Minerva fabrics series, and take down notes. I’m a new sewer so need the background info to help me understand what I need. Plus, I’m off to the Creative Crafts Show in the NEC on Saturday followed by a trip to Birmingham Rag Market with a fellow sewist friend squeeeeeal!
