Dana, I have retired a few years earlier than I had planned and am trying to keep my sanity by relearning some of my old hobbies that I lost touch with after years of working too much as a nurse. I am really grateful for your projects that you make easier using some of your cutting tricks and useful tips. It sure has made it much easier to teach this old dog new tricks with your calm demeaner working with the project as well as your enthusiasm when you have a beautiful completed garment etc. You can be sure I will be watching many more of your videos. Thanks for posting all the videos.

Those are really cute slacks! I love the piping pockets. Your daughter looks super cute in them. You used the pants as part of the pocket just like I have used a bodice lining as part of the outside fabric of the bodice by cutting the front bodice in half and showing the lining as the blouse of it.

Your shorts pattern is great and I’ve made some lovely shorts. The pattern includes a rectangle back pocket but there is no corresponding mark on the back short pattern for placing it. Do you have any particular instructions or tips about the back pocket?
@MADEEveryday
4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoy the pattern! Hmmm. I actually don't remember there being a back pocket pattern piece. Haha. So there isn't a marking on the pattern for placing one, but you can kind of eyeball that...placing it in the lower bum area. :)

These are so cute! Love that you are back! You set high standards for sewing videos! Right to the point, clean bright video, clear instructions! I just have a question. You have a new machine, what is the difference between the brilliance and the lyric which you had before? They seem to be identical machines. Are there new features? Or just rebranding? Thank you!
@MADEEveryday
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ashley! I'm glad the videos are helpful. 😊 There are definitely differences between the two machines, but a lot of the features are similar. The best way to see how each feels would be to go play with them at a dealer's shop, and they would have lots of other models you can try as well. Little things on a sewing machine can make a big difference when you're using it!

Thanks! The KID Shorts pattern only goes up to size 10 in kids. But you could use the same concepts to make a pair of pants or shorts for adults. You could use a pair of pants that you already own and love the fit, to create a new pattern for yourself. It's takes a bit to figure out the first time, but it's a fun adventure!

ok I've been wondering this for a while. why is there so much fabric wastage while cutting? not just your videos, others as well. is it an aesthetic thing for the video?
@MADEEveryday
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ciarda, good eye! I usually space out the pieces I'm cutting so that it's easier to see on camera, but I also don't want to make the video longer or more complicated than necessary by taking several minutes to maximize the fabric usage. I am more economical with it when I'm not filming. :)

What size chord do you use for the piping?
@MADEEveryday
4 жыл бұрын
For these pants I used premade piping from the fabric shop, in the smallest diameter, which is probably about 1/8 of an inch. But when I make my own I use a variety of cording, depending on the project. You can see how to make piping here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/rIikq6ajqYhla44 And in this other video, I use really fat piping for a pillow: kzitem.info/news/bejne/k4qBnnuOm2uam6A

Janice Kleinschmidt the way her daughter was wearing them, they certainly looked comfortable and on the grain, but I guess a new sewer might have missed that detail.
