This is the video tutorial how to sew stretch sheer fabric together. For sewing the lightweight or sheer stretch fabrics is recommended to use the zig zag stitches.
Very good video! Thanks. Trying to brush up on my skills and memory. Had a couple strokes and feeling better and want to sew and design again! Nice work! 💗

Did the zigzag turn into a french seam, somehow, when wasn't looking? I rewatched. It's zigzag, you stretch it, you iron it, and it looks like a french seam in the end.

I can guarantee you didn't start out this way. You Have the first decide what needle use on what type of thread to use.Is it polyester is it nylon??? I didn't quite understand the tension settings.

Thanks for the video! I'm looking at sewing some stretchy mesh as cute sleeves with a double brushed poly blouse. Would that be okay to sew the two types of fabrics together? Also, do you use polyester thread? Thank you so much! ♡

Yes, the polyester thread I often use when doing this kind of work.

Great video! I struggle with sewing in mesh but my machine makes jump stitches. What type of needle do you recommend? Have tried jersey needle and universal needle.

Not every sewing machine sews this material well. Try to put thin paper, newspaper under the bottom of the fabric. After finishing sewing, the paper can be a little moistened and carefully removed from stich. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? - when i try to sew stretchy mesh fabric the needle pushed the fabric into the machine and it ends up eating the fabric :/

1. The tip of the needle may be dull. 2. Try using a different type of needle, for example, the needle for sewing knit fabrics. 3. Remove the all-purpose foot and set on the round hole straight stitch foot.

Thanks for the video! Would you mind sharing what brand/ model of sewing machine you use to sew this stretchy mesh? I use Singer tradition and the mesh get stuck and doesn't move forward no matter what stitch I use. It seems the feed dog catches the fabric. It isn't an issue when I sew with the stretchy mesh on top of a layer of lycra, but when it's the other way around or with 2 layers of stretchy mesh, it's always stuck. Might you have any advice, please? :)

I can recommend placing thin paper under the mesh. Then tear and remove the paper from the seam. But this is a very unusual method, try it first. Here's a video: kzitem.infogz4ldwbY1zY

They have specific needles for different fabrics, the needle points are different along with size. There is stretch fabric needles in Singer, Joanns or Amazon singer stretch needles.

Hi, thanks for the video. Could you please tell me which tension and width did you use?
@sewway
Жыл бұрын
Use a fine needle (70 - 80), thin elastic threads. Medium length stitch. The tension must be determined on the experimental piece of fabric.

Why does my mesh fabric keep getting stuck in the machine while sewing?
@sewway
3 жыл бұрын
Try changing the presser foot. Use the straight stitch foot (round hole) instead of the all-purpose zigzag foot (wide slit).

Can I do a double stitching? Or the zigzag ensures that it will not become loose?
@sewway

Such a seam is stretchable, using a double needle also gives an extensible seam.
