I started shooting at 8, also. pest birds in the family cherry trees; (we wanted to eat and can the cherries rather than be a bird feeding operation), with a daisy spring gun. lever action with an improved spring and standard steel BB's. Went on to smallbore competition; 1000yd. military cal. competition; etc. I've never seen a clearer or more useful tutorial on sight correction and the mil-dot system in my entire life; and that includes the US Army. You're an excellent instructor.

jesus dude! I have been using chair gun for two years to create drop tables and so on but you have taken it to another level! Awesome shooting! I don't get to squeeze so much range out of mine as im running a .177 talon at 1050 fps, them little 10.5 grainers just don't buck the wind :) 70-80 meters absolute max. I bow to you!

Excellent video. My guess is that the best approach is doing a LOT of shooting under a LOT of conditions so you can develop a FEEL for where to aim.. By the time I open my laptop out in the field, try to figure out what the angle of the wind is, which I'm not quite sure how one would arrive at that, run calculations, unless my target is taking a 1/2 our nap or glued down, they will have flown away. LOL

Surpassed yourself again Ted, well done. 90 yard shooting, elevated & in that breeze is superb. My range estimation is pretty good, being a engineer working on the roads, but the windage is a different beastie. I recently watched a video on how some animals are designed. It said that birds are never seen panting for breath. From hummingbirds to geese migrating. The reason was, the intricate heart and lung system, pumps blood when inhaling and exhaling. Super efficient. At distances like this, the heart lungs, is the most damaging place to hit them, as it shuts down the birds, blood supply; they dont really store air and cant hold their breath, so, 1 or 2 seconds max. and the bird expires.

uau! you are a amazing teacher. Spetacular classes. Congratulations! Thank you by your excellents vídeos. I would like to put here an observation. It seems that the image of your camera (while shootings) is inverted. I am saying it because when you put on chairgun wind angles lesser than 180° it means that wind is coming from left to right, so that, to televiewer you are adjusting the chairgun settings to winds that is coming from left to right. However, during the shootings (we can see by the recticle) the winds are coming from right to left, am i right ? correct me if i am wrong, please. Normally the cameras have a resource of to invert the image to corret this. Thank you so much by the excellent videos. God bless you. Greetings from Brazil-Ceará-Fortaleza-Aluísio.

Ted, it looked like these pellets had a bit of wobble in each shot. Did you notice the same wobble when shooting without such strong winds? I am curious if wind has an effect on the pellet stability in addition to trajectory.

Actually, the maths and physics behind "chairgun", and any other ballistics tool is a lot more complicated that just Newton's equations that you might have learnt in school. If you are a nerd, have a look at my ballistic trajectory with drag simulation video, it explains some of it :P Newton is eh cool guy tho, as is EdgunUSA; great shooter + great equipment = great videos!

@EdgunUSA For a beginner shooter would you recommend a lower powered (10x) mil-dot scope or something like a MAP 6 or SR6? I thought mil-dot would be good to get used to right from the beginning but some attempt to market these other ones as quicker or easier to judge point of impact. The Scope will probablly sit on a high powered under-lever springer. Thank you for any feedback!

what mil dot scope would you recommend for a $110.00 budget. i always see you use the dots for adjusting for wind, pellet drop at long range, so i figure since i'm getting a better air rifle i will get a scope and attempt to shoot like you do. do you adjust anything when you shoot, like have to turn things that click on the scope? this is all foreign to me, i use an old fixed 4 power scope.

I think 900 fps is too hot for that pellet or maybe the barrel was dirty. Did you see how the pellets spiral taking a longer path to the target. Surprised it hit with that much spiral. I find around 870fps is best for the 18g or 16g
