for frontside shuvs i put my back foot in the bottom pocket with my front foot similar to a heelflip but more straightened, then do the opposite of a pop shuvit (front foot goes back, back foot goes forward) and i got them consistently doing it that way. if anyone decides to try this let me know if it helps 👍🏼

Started on pop shuvs and came back to this vid. Best tip I've found is to pull your knees slightly inward relative to your feet. When your weight leaves the board your back foot will turn the board a bit more automatically. Frustrated with ghost-pops on your pop shuvs? With this knees-inward stance, your front foot will also pull inward slightly making it easier to pop.

This is literally the most informative video on this trick. I've never seen anyone explain how differently the pop and shuvit footwork is. Using your front foot to get the board around on a shuvit and putting your foot slightly on the side. And with the pop shuvit moving your foot towards the center so it doesn't pressure flip. Pretty much all the videos I saw say the same foot position for both.
@DanielRodriguez-gm1to
3 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest tips that helped me was to not try to help the board spin with your front foot. The back foot does all the work needed for the shuv and all your front foot is supposed to do is lift up and catch the board.

These tutorials are great, they will no doubt become classics of this genre on KZitem. It's only because I believe this and I'm a long time supporter that I'm going to annoyingly point this out, 'still standing' means you were standing before and remain standing. 'standing still' means you are standing and not moving. We all know what you mean, it reminds me of how skateboard bruh thought POV stood for 'position of view.' Looking forward to more of these!

Notice you didn't cover frontside shove-its here, I learned backside pop shove-its great many years ago, but like many, somehow never really got the frontside...but now it's one of my sleeper fave tricks. I had to watch Jonny, Kyro, and Skidish to somewhat get the physics of it, but still nobody quite explained it in a way that made sense. The most helpful thing was watching Kyro do one in super slow-mo, you can actually see the tail push movement is like a "J" - straight down and then a scoop/push at the last moment. This opened my eyes to the complex physics of a lot of tricks - you don't just push the tail with a simple motion for some tricks, it's a complicated motion to get the weight/gravity of the board to be in the right state at a precise moment..

I skate rough pavement its hard to explain but there's rough concrete on one side and a little sliver of smooth on the other and Ido a pop shove it stationary on the rough side and land onto the smooth, and when I land, I roll away fakie, because it's kind of downhill. btw in my opinion shoves are harder than pop shoves because you have less time to react, and in a pop shove you have more air time and more time to react. anyways thanks Giger, I love your voice and I gained a lot from this vid. I love your street parts also. overall its a good beginner trick to learn and when you get shove its down pop shoves are a really nice looking trick!
