This is really helpful because I am trying to learn the signs of asl and I can just think back to the songs I learn and then of course change them to ask grammar but this is awesoem

I just wanted you to know, this was actually in pse. There’s nothing wrong with it! But I wouldn’t title title videos asl when they aren’t. Asl has its own grammar system, you would not sign the way you say things in English. When you do that, it’s called pse. Which is the signs of asl but in English grammar. Most hearing people get them confused because they grew up obviously learning English grammar. If you want to learn real asl there’s many websites that teach you the rules of their grammar system. No hate just wanted to let you know:)

Rylie Jane haha yes I am very aware this is not using ASL syntax. I do not always use PSE syntax either tho. I have a bit of a mixture in many of my videos. Since I have this mixture I do not want to put a specific label on my videos. I just put that I am using American Sign Language signs. It is what most people are familiar with in order to understand what my videos are about. Not many newcomers know what PSE is and would likely not know what my video is from its description. I always mention on my social medias and comments that I am not using 100% ASL syntax most of my syntax is PSE. Thanks for your comment tho! I appreciate the support! : )

It's not really even true PSE. It leans much closer to English as she's signing word for word. Definitely NOT ASL. Btw I'm an Interpreter, ASL Teacher and lifetime signer of over 47 years. You've got the vocabulary now you just need to learn the correct way to use it.

@@ASallie13 except you ARE putting a label on it by saying it's in ASL. It's not even close to ASL and instead of saying it is it should simply state that it's in sign language. Many see "ASL" and think that person knows what their talking about, they then learn bad habits by following along only to later claim they know ASL and be completely lost when in an actual setting that ASL is being used. Unless the Deaf person code switches for that hearing person. To top it off, those bad habits are then hard to break. Having Vocabulary isn't equal to knowing ASL. You stated you have said you don't do 100% ASL syntax. There is zero ASL syntax. You are using ASL signs but in English word order completely and it actually leans closer to English than even PSE. I think it's great that you know sign language. It's better than nothing at all, but it's very misleading to claim it's ASL. To simply say the title of the song in sign language they will easily know what you are doing.

This isn't even really PSE, it leans much closer to English. It absolutely is not ASL. ASL is a conceptual language. Sit down with the lyrics and try to understand what the singer is trying to convey through the lyrics and gloss the CONCEPT not the literal word for word signs but the actual meaning and concept of the song..

Please don't. Actually learn the grammatical rules and syntax of ASL before doing that. The Deaf community will appreciate it. This video is not done in ASL. The title is false. It's not even a language. This is just English on the hands. Been doing this all my life and I'm trying to offer you some quality advice. Yes it'll take longer but it'll be worth it and you won't make a fool of yourself should Deaf be in the audience. Learn actual ASL otherwise you will only be learning bad habits that are later hard to break. Or. Learn the signs but whatever you do do not claim it to be performed in ASL. Let it be known that you will be doing this song in "sign language" there is a HUGE difference. I can give you videos to watch for examples of what actual ASL looks like. This isn't it.

I just commented on your most recent vid but I was looking for a tutorial for this song too!! Thanks for posting your tutorials, explaining the signs, and going at reasonable pace. I’ve been trying to learn sign language over the past year in my spare time and the tutorials of songs really help extend my vocabulary.
