Back in black is such a hard song for anyone to sing. In the original studio version it wasn't head voice but a high-pitched scream (that is unsafe and ultimately destroyed Brian Johnson's voice in the 80s so he switched it to all head voices in 1990). But this is probably the closest you can ever get while still being safe on your throat. Cudos

I believe that's accurate yes. I've tried to add the grit to falsetto and it literally hurts after a few lines. My mistake was not learning and doing the exercise that Krn demonstrated, to get a healthy volume on falsetto so I can mix in the chest voice. At least I think that's what he was doing?

After watching your videos and practicing my vocals according to your instructions, I actually found myself singing Thunderstruck, Gone Away, and Rock n Roll like they were any other song. I was completely floored! Trying to sing any one of those songs, much less all three, with a full band behind me used to leave me without a voice for the next couple of days. Thanks to your technique and training, I have to say I aced it, and was still ready for more. Just amazing! Thank you :)

I haven’t really sung much rock before. I was trained with a lot of choral pieces and had a love for theatre and jazz music. But, I think the range of different musicals I’ve practiced and learned from has helped me dip my toes into many other genres. I think the reason I never got fully into rock is because of some fear that I’m gonna hurt my throat trying. I just never found a teacher to show me proper techniques. So, I guess my point is, thank you. I really appreciate this.

Could you do a video of managing to sing when having bad vocal days and how warming up plays a role etc. I could hear that your mix was more connected in the cover video, which made me think if you had your voice warmed up when shooting this new video. Let's say you had warmed up before coming gig, but still had bad day hitting your mix, what'd you do? Belt and drag your chest all gig, avoid mix altogether or maybe defaulting to more head voice than usual etc?

Your explanation of how these high register notes are all falsetto . With strong breath support has debunked so many myths from fellow musicians . I will be showing them your vids when they don't believe . Funny story all the bands I've sang for people would state you have such a deep speaking voice how do you hit those shrill shrieks and upper mid range screaming ? Because I was taught how to use a falsetto and blend it into chest tone . Since I began watching your channel this past 10 months . I've found I can do much better than I thought . Why limit oneself ? It's gonna take work . However your channel has really helped clean up a lot of weaknesses I didn't even notice before. Round about way of saying thanks 🙏 .

Hey Ken I was wondering if you can talk about what it is that we are growing in our falsetto that needs to be worked on overtime to build that strength is it the larynx is it forcing an open throat is it something else can you please talk about what it is that we need to be building inside our throats to be able to sing like this consistently without it drying out or closing up

These other coaches never actually sing any songs. It's relatively easy to eek out a line or two, that is not an example. It's another thing altogether to actually grade the quality of the voice on not only an entire song, but multiple songs in many styles with many students demonstrating themselves. This is the only true way to know if a method is actually working or not.

Hey Ken! Thanks to you and a few other people on KZitem, I’ve found my mixed voice. I was wondering how I get it to sound less breathy, and also how to build endurance with it because after like three mix songs, I end up “losing my mixed voice” for the day, where I can’t sing in mixed at all anymore

You make this kind of singing sound cool. I always thought Johnson would simply use what had been left of his voice after years of shouting. I spent years looking for rockbands who were like ACDC but with another singer. I was very happy with Swiss "Krokus" and then even more with "Wolfsbane" (young Blaze Bailey). But yeah, the fact they chose Axl Rose as a replacement makes clear they wanted their singer sound like demonstrated by yourself. Still I wished they had taken Stuart McKie from Doomfoxx kzitem.info/news/bejne/wq18t6Kff5d3dZw
