How to sing great high notes? Singing high notes can be tricky. An imbalance in the lower part of the voice can easily upset the balance of a high note.
Try these 3 tips and see if they work for you . . .
1. Breath support is extremely important. But it's not what a lot of people think. Support means holding the air back from the vocal cords. We do this with our core musculature. Specifically the oblique muscles. As you sing a phrase leading to a high note, feel your obliques gently and continuously moving outward.
2. HEAD VOICE. I have said it before and I'll say it again. No matter the genre, if the high not isn't working, it probably doesn't have enough head tone. In the video, I break down how to find more head voice balance in your high notes.
3. Tongue position. YUP. Tongue must be relaxed "up" in the mouth in which the back of the tongue forms a ramp-like position in the mouth with the tip of the tongue resting by the lower front teeth.
