Proper slappys are done with your feet on the bolts. Also, try keeping your arms down when doing tricks. That’s probably one of the causes of your lower back pain.

Where I'm from, we don't have those rounded curbs, they're rectangular and granite and usually chipped so I lift my weight off my board, lift my front truck and 50-50 up the curb

Me as a skater Im a weirdo. I completely suck at ollie's to the point where I don't try them anymore. I'm a master of all things shuvit and pressure flip related so I never got into grinds cause I can't Ollie. I just now discovered slappy grinds and I'ma master them to add them to my no Ollie skate style

Bro. I am 34 and I recently started having trouble out of my lumbar vertebrae too! I hate it cuz it does seem to come and go. I also have trouble out of my hip flexors I guess is what that is. Either way when I do a ton of flip tricks in a few days time it will be really sore when I raise my thigh up to do things like put my pants on or tie my shoes. Tbh I am starting to think the two are related because it seems like when one is bothering me the other will. Ofc I am doing much better than I was when I first started skating again back in august but still. I wish I knew how to solve the problem entirely

It just seems so strange when you come up on a curb because it feels as if it is just going to jam against the curb and throw you off. That's my issue with getting myself to do this. When you jam up agaisnt the curb and don't lift up the front of the board will the wheels always just roll up the curb even if it is a square curb? That's what screws with me.
@SKATEHACKS
3 жыл бұрын
Square curbs are harder to slappy 50-50 no doubt. You have to jam it harder. Try a more rounded curb or parking block first
@ponkieponkz

This may be a stupid question. I want to get into grinds on the street, but I often just stop myself. It's like my trucks grab onto a gritty surface, rather than sliding over it. Do I need to prep the curb? Or wax it or something? EDIT: I don't think I see wax in this video.
@SKATEHACKS
3 жыл бұрын
You’ll almost always need wax on everything in the streets, even sometimes on pure metal. I waxed this curb too. Especially concrete. Lots of it, might even take a couple days to sink into the concrete fully

I saw some people on Instagram the other day get into an argument because one person said that you go much further on slappy 50s if you lock in heel/toe side instead of crosslocking them. Not sure if it holds any merit bc ive never done a slappy but worth experimenting with id say
@TreyyDaMenaceFan
3 жыл бұрын
@@josharroyo6159 I've experienced my furthest slappys with cross lock and it just slid. I'm pretty sure the butter factor of the curb would be the determining factor, if its crusty then a cross lock may cause more friction
