Interesting point about constraints! Reminds me of "fix time, fix budget, flex scope" principle: it's better to get rid of some least necessary parts of the project than to miss deadlines or to just throw money into the problem.

Great tips, I really like the concept of reuse! I’m still pretty new to design and Figma so I feel like I spend a bunch of time always looking up how to do something. Definitely slows me down.

Thank you for this. here is my experience: context 1: reducing the risk is critical: i try to do as much as i can for phases 1 and 2 (the right problem, the right solution) and go quicker on the Done Right phase. context 2: You need things done very quickly (by you i mean the team, we are part of a team and want to allow the rythem to be maintained, OR another department is pushing to sideline UX by accusing it of delaying the project and proceeding via POC): you cut corners, do with less research and head straight forward to the solution (ideally you would do some UT) and monitor user behavior via AB test or stats. context 3: you work on accelerating other aspects of the project (gathering requirement, stakeholder interviews, ideation, validation workflow, testing presentation..) via Design sprint inspired approach. if the whole team is invonved throughout an accelerated proecess and you can have SME (subject matter experts) and enough data, you can define a problem focused space, work on that and generate many ideas quickly, and get rapide validation on what to test. and have everyone involved in the interviews and UT note taking and concept validation. these are some contexts, there are others

Great content, Femke! Really appreciate it. I completely agree with your argument that the design process cannot be done faster. When I try to do it faster physically, it only stresses me out. Breaking down the process into smaller milestones, keeping documentation organized and setting some constraints for myself helps a lot to push the project forward. Keep inspiring! :)

Yeah definitely agree on all you recommendations, especially on a research constrains, I fell pity because my team never let me have my time on diving deep and doing detailed analysis, surveys to get the nuggets and real user needs, also feature constrains is what we always use in our planning in order to make releases smaller but more often to engage with users in social media. Thank you as always for the great content!

Hi Femke, great video! But how you organize yourself as both designer and content creator? Like all those research reports, briefs, product requirements and deadlines? Do you use Notion or several different tools? I’m quite overwhelmed since I’m organization is hard for me, but trying my best! This video was helpful.

I think I've gotten caught up in over-researching where I could use competitive analysis. I do a lot of intranet work for larger companies, so I'm doing research now to have some solutions ready based on common problems. Thanks, Femke.

Great tips, Femke! Time management during the design process is a common problem for most of us. I tend to spend a lot of time on inspiration and research. Most of the time I tend to gather so much useful information through articles and links plus screenshots that in the end, they end up either in the file I work in or it is forgotten as a bunch of links in my bookmarks... So, I would like to ask... do you have a tool to create/organize all these useful information (links, screenshots, freebies) you find from time to time and be able to create something link a digital library that you can share with other team members?

Hmmm I would lean to trying to use a tool that you already use internally rather than trying to find something new, as I find it can be difficult for folks to adopt new tools. Something like mymind could work? mymind.com/

Thank you yet again for brilliant content! I was wondering if i could ask you a question - is it bad to have a not yet finished project in your portfolio? In this case it's because i'm proud of what i have accomplished so far - but it's still a bit to go before it's finished. I'm thinking of a case study w.i.p with information about whats happening next

Well how. To design fast? Just dont get in your mind the fact that u will design fast. Design as u will design everyday. Just be urself and in the end of thebday u will say wow....that was me? Yeaaaa
