Are you using a batch file to update your server? If so, make sure the -validate flag is not used.

after following all of this, the items i had trouble with spawning in started spawning. but now boomlays items wont spawn in. it's replaced one problem with another. anyone know what might be up?

Typically an error in the XML file causing items to not spawn. An XML validator can be useful sometimes, but won't find certain issues if they don't cause a syntax error.

Are you working on a local or remote server? I have this massive xml file working on my local server but when I uploaded the same xml to my community server, the file is greyed out. I'm using nitrado, and it seems to cap and 1mb. Hopefully that made sense, as Im kinda new to all this. I tried splitting them as you did. Followed your intructions to the T but it just isn't working for me.

so i do everything just as you have it. i added the code locks and everything was working then i added more and literally nothing spawns in my server not even zombies and when i take out the extra ones i added and just leave code locks everything works fine so i dont know what im doing wrong.

These types of symptoms typically indicate a syntax error in your files. Double-check your files for any errors and consider checking your RPT log files for related errors.

Why does the cfgeconomycore.xml file become unreadable after you add those lines? if you just double click it, it appears blank. If you open again with notepad++, all the data is there as written and saved. But the game is seeing it as a double click and so to dayz this file is blank. Removing these lines of code, the file can be read again without editing it.

big problem i have. im doing this method but i keep getting nothing to spawn in. i checked the console for the dayz local server and it just says that the mod file i split dont exist. i tried looking everywhere for a solution but that only one way that i found that works is going back to just putting them in the vanilla types folder. i have validated the files, checked my errors in the economy core file and its all without errors. i still dont have a solution, if you guys can help me find a solution, that would be amazing!! Every time I've seen issues like these it has been due to typos in the config files. If you are still having issues I encourage joining my Discord server and creating a thread in #support with your custom files, screenshots, and any logs. It might take me some time, but we can typically find where it went wrong.

An error in types.xml or economy core file can cause this. I would check your RPT logs for any errors and also check any files you have modified for errors/syntax issues.

If you add another types file with entries that are already in the original, what happens? I was reading the info in Bohemia’s website but couldn’t make sense of it. I played around with it a little and found it didn’t effect the nominal or deloot flag, seems to overwrite useage and category tags though. Have you got any more idea?

Don, did you try this method on PS4? Unfortunately I could not do it... I have tried with events. My events work correctly when I add it to the default events.xml, but when I try to split events data with 2 files using this method it does not work

@@IhorTykhonov-mr9wo i think the issue is file permissions, you must change them but thats not doable without SSH access to server. Without correct permission the server wont be able to access the files you added. Maybe you can copy the original type.xml then delete its content and rename it. I will give this a try.

Hi, thank you for this video it was much helpfull. Can we do like this on the cfgeventspawn.xml also? will the typefile then be "eventspawns" or "eventposdef"? I hope i can do this with all the extra xml files but have no clue how to do it other than what I just learned in this video ;) I tried the "DayZ-Dog but alas the dogs did not spawn when I tried to do it like in this video, but they spawned when I copy the text in the serverfiles. The type units did spawn though.

I'm having an issue with my types.xml. It's registering that they're there, the .xml files are all verified and working properly, but the world isn't spawning any of the modded items in. I've set their "Nominal" values to just 1 to prevent any kind of loot overload but still, nothin' spawns. Any idea what this could be?

So you may have found the problem but I ran into this also and this is for others who may run into the same issue in the future. I accidently capitalized the word "folders" in my cfgeconomycore.xml. I had '' which made my server crash and not recognize any of this. I switched it to (again just made sure it was not capitalized) and my server loaded instantly.

Hey TheGamingChief - this makes life so much easier. A quick question - I am using the Diesel_JugBear mod - this does not have a cfgspawnabletypes.xml but it does have cfgenvironment.xml, cfgeventspawns.xml, events.xml and jubbear_territories_cherno.xml. Do I reference these in the cfgeconomycore.xml the same way?

Is it possible to use this method to adjust certain vanilla items so that updates won't affect that portion of the types file? Say I were to create an ammo_types.xml in the customtypes folder and copy and paste my adjusted ammo entries from the default types.xml. Would ammo_types.xml override that portion of the types file?

That's a great question. Based on my experience in other BI games I would assume it will overwrite it as you described, however, you'll just have to give it a try and see if it works the same in DayZ.

SQUAD MSFC has 14 separated type files for each type of item in a folder, and a SpawnableTypes.xml. Can I just add more than one or I have to build just one file with every item of the mod and then link just this one inside the economycore ? Great video, I was totally lost now I can see some lights...

When I do this method to add mods items like tents and vehicles etc that my character had set up vanished. Other progress remained unchanged. Tried several times with different mods. When doing the old way (adding to the default types file) mods work fine without items disappearing. Anyone run into and overcome this?

I would recommend checking your RPT files for any errors and double-checking your custom files. I have seen this before and it was due to someone making a typo in the economy core file.

It helps keep it clean and easy to understand. It also helps if you add and remove mods frequently as it's much easier to add and remove the types when they are separated by folder.

How long does it take to take effect? I adjusted the loot because I set it too low initially, and now that I have nearly tripled it, hardly anything is spawning still. I have looked everywhere for help, but literally no one will answer me.

I don’t know if you will see this, but a question I have pertains to vanilla loot. I’m trying to be very organized and I’d like to set up multiple categories, like you did, but also for vanilla. Is it possible to completely remove guns, ammo, food, etc from the original types.xml and put them in their own folders, and maybe leave the main types to be just the clothes (so that there’s something in the original file)

This should be possible, however, with game updates it will update your types.xml to the vanilla defaults.

Ok, I'll answer myself, maybe it can be useful for someone else. Yes, it also works by putting all the various "types-01.xml", "types-02.xml", "types-03.xml", etch. in the same folder. For me it is much more comfortable.

Do you have to add the cfgspawnabletype? or will the still spawn from the types? Whats the advantage of having the cfgspawnabletype in there?

It depends on the mod, some mods (like the code lock mod shown in this video) only have a types entry. While on the other hand some mods (like the Mass's shown in the video) use types and cfgspawnabletypes so we would need both. The main advantage of splitting them is not worrying about a game update breaking your custom edits and making it overall cleaner and easier to manage.

I know it depends on the size of my server box, but can I run 4 servers in one DayZ folder, with just renaming everything with _1 thru _4?

I would honestly recommend having separate server folders for each server. Basically the way Omega Manager handles several servers. It takes a bit more disk space, but is a lot cleaner of a solution.

If you’re talking about the actual splitting of the files, no mods are needed. I used CodeLock and Mass’sManyItemOverhaul as example mods, but it works with all mods.

Found out I had put two closed lines on top of one another. I read the logs file and it said on start up of the server unable to load line 23 Error reading end tag. line 23 spawn will not work.
