It's all too easy to compare when you have one which you know is genuinely fake and the other you know to be 100% original. But I'd wanna see you spot a fake battery without having the original next to it.

Easy way to spot a fake? Just weigh it! Genuine 18650 will weigh around 46 - 47 grams, and fakes are usually around 35 - 36 grams

You can also weigh the cells. Real cells are much heavier than fakes.

LG didn't make these batteries for vaping. They made them for power tools. They only sell them to trusted business partners who build battery packs for power tools. You cannot get them from any supplier from the country of South Korea. As a seller if you manage to get your hands on some then there are way too many middle men and it is impossible to be profitable. If you do find a supplier that you could possibly be profitable with the supply won't be sustainable. This whole situation opens the flood gates for fake Chinese batteries. Everyone wants authentic LG2's but no one is willing to pay for them. The fake battery scene has already set the market for what people are willing to pay.

Just compared some known real cells to some I suspect might be fake and the fake ones are smoother than the real ones. So I don't think this is a good method. At least no in my case.

You have to take that silly sticker off that the Chinese put on there and look at the font size of the lettering also. If the Chinese put the sticker on the battery then guess what? They made the battery as well.

Randy4me normally no actually. They buy old bulk cells. Made from literally anywhere. Whatever is cheapest. Remove the wraps and put on their own. With fake specs or they copy popular battery wraps like the hg2.

this is not as simple as that there are more visual ways to tell fake from better one or real one there are too many differences between and even then it doesn't mean it is fake

I wouldn't have thought so. IMR are a pretty decent manufacturer of own brand batteries, so wouldn't make sense to sell fakes. I bought these from a random supplier on DHgate as they were so cheap. Cheap for a reason...

real ones have thicker top caps with smooth edges, while the fakes ones have like some sort of thin shaped metal with sharp edges. I have a fake vtc 5, and the top cap bent while using a hybrid mod. Meanwhile I have an HG2, no problem with the top cap.

Also, don't forget that if the pvc wrapper on the battery is torn or shows the metal battery in patches or scrapes you are looking at the negative as well. The entire battery except for the very tip of the battery is negative. Very important to not use batteries with shoddy wraps, torn wraps, etc.

@@vectraB97 all his buyers have no idea, you may have luck to get a real one, but most buyers get happy when they see their battery matching rated capacity. They don't check if they are genuinely high drain. I got a fake Samsung 40t from him. Rest is up to you, don't take chance with batteries just got sake of cheap prices, have a nice day bro. @@sunitadhyani1013 I also bought a Samsung 40t 21700 from this seller. It didn't give me any issues. Performance has been great. But I wouldn't use batteries from eBay sellers on vape/e-cigarett. These are not waterproof flashlights so a potential battery venting wouldn't create enormous pressure inside the flashlight housing.

Sorry, but most vape shops are clueless. If you use that as your defense against fakes you are in trouble already. The only thing they know is their profit margin. Can't tell you how many shops are pushing fakes and get angry with you for simply trying to help them understand what obvious signs of fakes to look for.... or just informing them of a website like batterybros who try to inform. It's about trying to help everyone stay safe, not your ego.
