I would like to add that if your silhouette does not stand out and is kinda plain then make the art style stand out as a nice substitute that way when anyone sees a similar silhouette they will first think of you
@squiiji3D

That's a good tactic too!
@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena
Жыл бұрын
@@squiiji3D the best part about that tactic is if you did not even know or think about silhouettes being distinct in the first place being a part of what makes a great or memorable design then you still could stand out. I view the whole thing as a game where you are given a undisclosed limited number of skill points that you must spend, as if you do too much you will overload the senses of the viewers brain and they will ask "Are you trying to be the next Max0r?" but if you do too little you will just be underwhelming to the viewers Overwhelming the sense can work just look at Max0r 1.26mil subs, but one would have to be fully committed to doing that. And he spends about 3 months editing a video, overly editing i might add as he deliberately overwhelms the sense and granted he is not a VTuber. Substituting for a lack of something in any area is really a great advice in general, not just for content creation, art, or VTubing but in general. As for me i personally think a plain design in general is ok, especially in a world of oversaturation as then the more plain something looks the more it actually stands out in the crowd while not really trying. Think of Larry from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games that are filled with vibrant everything really and he is just a overworked business man trying to make ends meet, and because there is a clash there he is one of the most memorable characters in those games and the most relatable which also plays into the memorability of Larry

I kinda disagree here tbh. Most silhouettes are not unique, there is just so much type of clothing and designs that can be applied to a model. And for the people that go completely wild with special elements in their model, they often feel incredibly busy to look at and have too many unnecessary details to make an easy memorable first impression. An issue that also many Vtuber logos have. A recognizable brand (and thats what this basically is about) is easy to look at, easy to understand and memorable in terms of color choice and design. And there are many things that can be part of that. May it be your Vtuber model, but also some recognizable logo/symbol, mascots, your background, theme and of course character as a person.

Once Hololive became a thing I kind of lost all motivation, because it seemed like all anyone wanted was anime girls. Same thing happened to me. I saw all the anonymous art yourubers (which I would argue are still "vtubers" but whatever, people call then other things like "png tubers" now) and I thought staying anonymous would be the perfect way for me to start making content without having to look nice or put effort into a camera. Combine this with the boom of VR and I was inspired to start streaming virtually in games such as VR chat. I got so demotivated once hololive became the norm. Not that it is bad at all! It just create a new norm for virtual creators ;u;

It's an interesting concept, though it feels like there always has to be a trade off, either it's a small change to the model, or the model is simple enough that a change is easy, or you are your own artist with enough time for it. Was actually thinking about how this would work well for a game like SS13 (multiplayer shift based game job sim/rp till something blows up the station and you die), the outfits for different jobs are similar enough (basically a colored jumpsuit) that you could model an outfit for like 10 of the 35 or so jobs with only doing the work of a about 3 outfits, and it would be an easy game to come back to.

There is a thing I dont really like about videos like this, its completely on me, but I think its important to mention. This video is related to the will of becoming a vtuber, with a goal to become a vtuber. It shows ideas on how you can become standing out, interesting and etc, but it not necessarily fits what you want? For example, I wanted to have a gaming channel, streaming gaming for fun, not to be solely a successful youtuber. Which means, the advice of combining what skills I present, is not related, because what I want to present is already an oversaturated niche. I might be better if I try to combine language-learning into my content and vtubing, but its not exactly what I want to do as a content creator, so now Im stuck with that. And a aesthetic, theme of the vtuber doesnt actually fit too much, all I want is just to use an already existing type of character I love and associate a lot with my persona online, and just use it to have more personal connection with an auditory, which contradicts the idea of creating a brand new identity, which might be an original one, but its not exactly part of me at least yet. Basically what im trying to say, this video is not about moving forward you as a creator with an existing identity, but more like about how to start off as a new identity which will have a better market using your own skills. Its great, but me personally, im here not for the sake of vtubing or youtube, im here cuz I want to share my experiences I love. Not really against the video, its a very great edited video for 500 subs(Me with my basically only 20 real subs cant judge you at all, all my videos are shit after all xd), I just think that the topic can be a bit misleading in specific cases like mine. Probably im a rare case, but if I exist, then there could be plenty more.. You have a great art style btw, keep going

When VTubers where still not a hot pick, I wanted to become one so bad (I'm talking about the time where Niji EN still didn't exist) But now it seems almost impossible to differentiate from the rest and grow. Even more if you're not on a company like Nijisanji/Hololive. Aside from ChroNoiR (pretty famous), I only follow another VTuber called Chromo, he's a small English VTuber (3K) I discovered when searching for some stream to get Twitch Drops LOL. I choose him bc his design was the most beautiful design I've ever seen. Then I really liked his nice personality and kept coming even tho there weren't drops, now I don't miss any of his streams.

This is so inspiring and fresh... everyone/most people just got used to and think that v-tubers have to mainly do gaming/art streams and present their unique hobbies or skills as sort of a bonus. That's what I've always thought as a consumer, but now that you've brough this perspective and introduced some of the more unique content creators in the sphere, it makes me want to actually seek some out who would pique my interest; to actually subscribe instead of watch videos as they're recommended in my algorithm! It made me think about how my type of demographic (only time to view short form content or highlights) doesn't consume much of the gaming portions of v-tubers since there's not much time to get invested... and now I realize that I've always gravitated to the "other" content of those streamers where I like their personality, but only seek out the content that's concise. Thank you for sharing your perspective and being such an inspiring teacher (currently watching through your videos 😅 backwards after discovering you last night). Even though I'm not able to utilize the things you discuss for myself (though if I was younger I would definitely be an education vtuber!), I'm excited to see what your content inspires in others and love how you teach these concepts, making it so digestible for laymen such as myself!

Well you've certainly put what's on my mind regarding vtuber concepts into a much nicer way than i ever could. FAR TOO MANY vtubers think that being a vtuber is just having a nicely drawn/rigged model, and after that they're set, which IMO is why it's a miracle if any of them make it into the 10k range. People really underestimate creative effort, because it could boost even the "tired" content, like not just what game you're playing but if you can think of HOW to play it to make things interesting, and not just another run-of-the-mill let's play. Also I would be careful with Educational content, the tax filing waifu game mostly got interesting, BECAUSE while it had shown you how to do it, there was enough distraction that it didn't feel like a chore, since even in the part of the trailer you showed it said "GO ON DATES", so it wasn't the sole focus. Usually there is a large disconnect between character concept and content that people don't plan around or do it very little. For example since you mention Onigiri, let me criticize her for a moment, her being an oni adds nothing to the overall content, because she acts like an ordinary human, the only reason her avatar is the way she is so she can make the pun of ONI-giri, it gets a chuckle out of people once, but beyond that it adds nothing. It's just like watching any IRL cooking show, it only adds one extra layer of TECHNICAL effort to set up the green-screen, but beyond that nothing on the CREATIVE side. To put it into an example, if say she studied on how Oni are characterized as besides "they have horns" it would improve setting her apart from the aforementioned IRL cooking shows even more, or she could make fictional dishes (even if only in name, but she still makes irl dishes) and say she works with "dangerous" ingredients, and she could mess up the cooking with it's effects showing on her avatar, it could put some creative use on her avatar besides it being a thing she needs to call herself a vtuber. You also showed Mysta and called him "(not so) intelligent detective" but he NEVER was acting like a detective as far as i know, he merely acted like a total idiot, but never within the context of detective work, and plenty of details he told about his life contradicted his debut lore, making it a waste of time. Honestly this is why i got started, cuz i was left disappointed time after time that i get hooked with an interesting lore, only to be disappointed that they do ABSOLUTELY nothing with it, and I'm the idiot for wanting vtubers to ACTUALLY play a character.

I have an Idea. I've been playing DnD for a bit over a year now, and I'm currently in a relatively new campaign. So, idea for content: STREAM MY DND SESSIONS! My group currently only plays over Discord, so it's the perfect chance to stream dnd while actually playing with them! I already asked my DM and my fellow players, and they said that it was fine if I streamed the session! Also, I'm currently a student, so if I actually get a Vtuber Model, my model will be dressed in a student uniform (Like the one used for my current PNGTuber) with a student bag. After careful consideration, I have finalized my Model Idea (It took me over an hour). My model, if I decide to stick with being a Streamer/Content Creator, will have short tousled brown hair and brown eyes, will be dressed in a standard student uniform, so like a white undershirt, a Tie, and a neutral colored button-up wooly long-sleeve shirt for the top, and something like normal black pants and pastel sneakers for the bottom. It will also have a tome/spellbook on a strap, the strap being on the right shoulder of the model, because I'd stream DnD a lot so the tome would be a nod to DnD, and, to make fun of the fact that some people think that DnD is demonic, the model will have devil horns and devil wings. Ok, wow, that was a lot longer than I expected it to be.

A niche that I think could really be expanded is dnd or ttrpg vtuber. There has been some, but mostly just dipping their toes in to it at the moment.

Have been doing some searching in Vtuber concepts so I can try and create my own. Hearing this helps a lot. While it still kinda in the traditional sense, I want to try doing anime reactions as a core for my context as, while I am an artist, it’s not super good and I’m pretty shy when it comes to singing. Thinking about it more, it could also be fun to read books and fanfics that I like as well. Thank you a lot for these ideas as both for Vtuber concepts and character design in general!

I think those are good routes for content! I haven't seen that many anime/manga critics or reviews from Vtubers, and read-a-longs and that sort of stuff could be really fun! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I wish you luck!

@@squiiji3D I’m glad you think so! Thanks for the support as well! I’m in college right now amd working, so it will take me a while to try out but I’ll do my best. I’m still new to this whole Vtuber thing as I just started watching them around 2 months ago. But they are all so cool and look like a lot of fun (I do know there are downsides to it but it still looks fun to do). I hope to do my best and I can’t wait to see all your videos too! You gained a subscriber!
