That started so much easier than the ones I had to pull on when I was a kid. I still love the sound of the Johny Popper.

You should put a muffler on it instead of an exhaust pipe. Also you need to remove the ignition switch. I wanted a car when I was 13. Instead my dad got me a 39 b that I had to rebuild. I guess he felt I couldn't get into trouble with it. Lol. Great video.

So nice to hear this sound again. My dad had what I think was a Model B tractor, but it had fenders on it. He started it in the same way. He has passed away now, but still have great memories of that tractor and watching him use it. Thanks for the video.

When my Grandpa Oliver got back from Korea in 1954, he bought a 1941 John Deere model B tractor that you had to start by hand by turning the fly wheel.

Nice tractor. Used to listen to them being used when I was a kid. I used to think they were grouse drumming (would just get the accelerating putt-putt--putt-putting of a distant tractor). My neighbor (50 years ago) was a poor farmer and I vividly remember him trying to start a B. He spun that flywheel for at least half an hour and no go. On a hot Summer day. He eventually went bankrupt. Maybe new spark plugs would have saved the farm.

I’m in my sixties now however when I was young we used to cut my grandfathers firewood with a big saw. I used to handoff the wood from the saw. My grandfather had a John deer similar to this but it had one wheel in the front instead of the slanted two. Anyone know what that might have been? Iv never seen another one like it.

I found one of these completely restored for 5k i was going to buy it for my small farm just a garden tractor really but i didnt realize they had no 3 point hitch i guess all they were made for back then was pulling plows?
@michaelvrooman5681
4 жыл бұрын
They were actually made for pulling horse drawn farm implements. 3 point hitches did not become common until the mid 50s. A John Deere model 50 is equivelent to a B and has a 3 point. The model 60 is equivalent to the bigger A.
