I am working on a spreadsheet that will help you to do calculations for materials and cost when making cement blocks here is a preview of the spreadsheet.. kzitem.info/news/bejne/xLCsm2qijpyViI4

Please correct me if I'm wrong. If I hear you correctly, he said: "Every ton = ten wheelbarrows of sand." If a ton is 2,000 pounds, that would mean that each wheelbarrow of sand weighs 200 pounds. "From a ton of sand, you can produce concrete 70 blocks." So mathematically, 2,000 pounds of sand, producing 70 blocks, means each block will use 28.57 pounds of sand to produce. You also said, "With one bag of cement powder and five wheelbarrows of sand, you can make 35 blocks." so "2 bags of cement, will give you 10 wheelbarrows of concrete and can produce 70 blocks." Formula: 2 bags cement + 10 wheelbarrows of sand = 70 blocks. So when you go to buy your material (sand, cement powder) so for 100 tons (of material), you multiply by 2 to get the number of block. (100 tons x 2 = 200 blocks) (I think that is what he said.) "Client request 3,000 blocks, divide by 3,000 by 35 to get the number of bags of cement powder that is needed." 3,000 blocks / 35 = 85.75 bags of cement powder. Then divide the number of bags by 2 to get the tonnage needed." 85.78 bags / 2 = 42.86 tons for the 3,000 blocks." 70 blocks = using ten wheelbarrows of sand for every ton he is collecting. (70 blocks = 10 wheelbarrows = 1 ton) .... 1 bag of cement lays 80 blocks. (1 bag of cement makes the mortar to lay 80 blocks. ) 3,000 blocks/80 blocks being laid gives you the number of bags of cement needed, which would be 37.5 bags of cement. Remember each bag of cement being used requires 5 wheelbarrows of sand. etc...

Good to share your experience, but now you need to know in detail about different strength of blocks basing on laboratody tests, it is not general. Some projects needs more stronger blocks compared other. Also we do specify ratio for cement mortor for laying blocks. So here you need to specify basing on nature of the project

@block9292

I think for you to import cement from outside South Africa you will face challenges. This is because South Africa manufacture cement so they wouldn't want you to buy from outside. The best option is to find the manufactures in South Africa and see if you can buy from them

Yes for the 150mm X 400mm X 200mm high blocks you will get 35. The water used for mixture should be 50liters.
