Everything is great, but why no one mentions that retinol is dangerous for pregnancy? I mean, it is a big topic, a lot of studies.. I think it should be at least briefly mentioned in every retinol related video, so girls can go and read/search the rest by themselves. Or mention studies where the risks are approved to be neglectable.
@eyekandy3000
4 жыл бұрын
Nataliia Sivchenko there are only a handful of case studies I believe showing possible negative effects of retinol during pregnancy. I think doctors want to be totally cautious since for ethical reasons there will never be a study conducted with retinol in pregnancy. Now Isotretinon- the Oral version of tretinoin- Accutane for example is Category X!!! Cannot he used at all during pregnancy- that has been proven to cause birth defects. I’m in my third trimester and I use retinol OTC drugs, so not prescription strength, twice a week. I stopped once I found out I was pregnant like at six weeks and just restarted- I did my research on it though and feel safe using it now.

What I’d recommend is using a gentle cleaner and not putting on any other skincare products after you use the cleanser. What for about an hour and see if how you’re skin looks. If you’re skin looks greasy, it’s oily. If you’re skin feels very tight and possibly even flaky, it’s probably dry. If parts of your face are oily and other parts are dry or normal, you have combination skin. If you’re skin isn’t dry nor oily, it’s probably normal. :))

Hi Cassandra, what is your opinion on vitamin-A forms like Adapalene? I have just reintroduced it into my skincare after giving up on it a few months ago. Should I be following the same steps in this video to get used to it and for building tolerance? And is it good for long term use and anti-aging as well? Or is Retin-A better for acne, anti-aging, and long term use?

My Dr said he had not ever heard of Retinol being used for ACNE 🤷 he is not the best Dr. He said it was prescribed for wrinkles in "older women" as a "fountain of youth" and that my insurance wouldn't ever cover it because it's for cosmetic purposes... I insisted he look into it anyways but he has NOT.( Im 28 with acne and dark spots) Im annoyed by him i skipped my last appt. Because i just feel like he's a know it all with no room for learning things 🤷

Actually, it's the opposite if you look at insurances' formularies. They generally do not care for your cosmetic issues i.e. wrinkles, but they do approve it for acne with prior authorization.

I thought retinols degrade in sunlight, which is why they shouldn't be used in the morning. I know adapalene is photostable, but i thought that everything else wasn't.
@EldritchCloak
4 жыл бұрын
You're right. Retinol is a retinoid that are quite un-photostable and may break down under UV light. But there's actually been so many advances tho, so many forms of retinoids are photostable - such as adapalene, tazarotene, microionized tretinoin, retinol esters...

I'm latina, starting my 3rd month on tret, and my experience has been very smooth. I started my research seeing videos and reading experiences of mainly anglo parlants creators. I was a liitle afraid because a lot of white people peels and purge horribly, but I didn't. It just changed my oily skin to dry, and I get a few pimples that fade in a day or two. I'm using hydrating and moisturizing products aswell and being gentle with my skin. Sunscreen daily, too. I'm starting to see a few changes: my pores looks cleaner and the "tret glow" is starting to show. I'm writing this because maybe there is more non caucasic people that are thinking in starting tretinoin and I want to share my experience :) Take care, you all!!

Hi darling. Watching you from Spain. Thank you very much for all the info you are sharing so kindly. In awe with your journey. Respect! Thanks to you I just started with The Ordinary products. Its just 2 weeks and result is already noticable! I am looking for the right skincare treatment for my 15yr old daughter. Mixed skin, T zone problems. Persistent blackheads, zits and painful red spots. The Ordinary told me their product are not recommendable for teenage skin which messed up my plan. I would so appreciate your thoughts on this and what you would recommend, what to avoid. Its an important time for her to prevent more outbreaks and scarring. I did watch the acne videos, unfortunetly many of the recommended products are not for sale here. Was hoping it could be done by The Ordinary products. Prefer organic and cruelty free. We do have Amazon yet not selling the same brands as the US. Big hug and wish you all the best. You go woman!

I've been using tretinoin + hydroquinone for over 2 months now. First month - every other night, then every night. I'm starting to see results! Also, I'm one of the few lucky people to experience NO dryness and NO flaking whatsoever (only a bit of stinging for the first couple of weeks) and my skin is normally a bit sensitive👍

I would love a retinol product recommendation video Cass! I've tried the ordinary retinol in Squalane but I just can't stand that oily feeling, and it's starting to break me out now too. I need something great for scars and/or uneven tone.
