My dude! this video helped me greatly recently. Thank you so much. I basically did about two minutes of a “warm-up” introducing myself asking people to silence their phones, made a joke about myself, and asked if everyone was ready, repeated with I can’t hear you is everyone ready and everyone was smiling and laughing and cheering and suddenly it felt like a weight was off my shoulders and then when the ceremony actually started it just flowed!

I watched ALL your videos before officiating my friend's wedding...SO incredibly helpful and ALL thanks to you. One of the guests was a wedding coordinator and said that was one of the best officiated weddings she had ever been to and thought I was a paid professional. If I ever considered officiating and wanted to get coached, without a doubt I'd go with you. I'll never do it again though bc it's way too much pressure lol If anyone wants to see my officiant speech for ideas, just let me know. I did a spin on "Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today" and everyone loved it. Thank you again Mark, couldn't have done it without your tips.

It would be a purely symbolic wedding as they had already been married formally the week before, but I really wanted to do a good job. All your tips and videos were excellent and came in very handy. I used this video as a guide for my opening and it worked like a charm. Right from the start, the guests knew we were there to have some fun and get excited and they sure did! I also used your ten-step checklist, how to deal with the wedding planner and how to run a successful rehearsal. Heck…I used them all. Thanks for all your tips, I had an absolute blast and the couple and their guests LOVED the ceremony. I may have to get licensed and start doing it more often….it is a lot of fun!!!

I saw this happen in the hall near my brother's wedding reception. A female manager was upset with a caterer, who had signed up for a one-person shift. She said she didn't think he could manage the service alone. She was sternly all, "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen. You need someone there to give you instructions and guide you." And then the caterer said, "You know, I'm beginning to see why you work so many wedding receptions." What does his comeback mean? Whats the implied reason?

I will endeavor to let them know to feel and act upbeat and not grim, as some pastors are able to do even at a funeral, let alone a wedding. If it's ok to share my feelings, I guess do I feel lonely when I watch this, though. While you're surely right about today's overall crowd response to the newer, MC-style banter versus the old, "uptight" (if not traditional or religious) manner, it doesn't include me. I'm evidently in that minority who would be more emotionally involved with the seriously wonderful, authentic, genuineness of what we're calling uptight (when I was getting married I thought, "finally, it's *me* with those classic movie wedding words being spoken for *us* ") and conversely, for me, it takes something away from it when it's so often done this other way, like it's less professional in some key, missing way (somehow) no matter how professional it is in a comedy nightclub crowd-warmer way, but that's just me. I also don't want to compete for attention with the bride or groom with my personality or even clothes. I think there's different regions where I'd be more or less the stodgy old stick in the mud, but the funny thing is I wasn't always this way. I was the party guy until I felt I gravitated closer to what matters, IMHO, like it's one sacred thing to take one, last ditch stand on and not make godless (and while newlyweds are often young, often, important folks in the crowd aren't). It's one more thing you've made me consider running past the bride and groom. It may be awkward, my being an old, religious officiant for today's millennials, I'm afraid, but I will try to take this very experienced, accomplished advice and try to incorporate it as well as what I deem sacred an irremovable. Thanks! If anyone is too broke, like me until I get going, to show some gratuity or patronage to this guy for putting so much out here for free (like buying classes), let's at least share him for those who readily can, and help him be viral here, too.

@@FromPeloToYourHeart It went SUPER well! Here are tips that helped me. I asked for certain things to be taken care of, meaning other people handle it, like a PA system so other people handled that and checked the microphone etc. I asked for a stand of some sort which they couldn't secure, so I bought a small binder and put the speech in it and held it in my hands, and the one or two times where I had to put it down because I needed both hands, I just put it down on a table that was there. Having a rehearsal also helped to iron out bugs. Knowing my speech was helpful, not so much because I wanted to have it verbatim, but so I was familiar with the ceremony in general. I still looked down at my pages too much for my liking, but oh well. Print your speech in big font and space things out in small paragraphs of one or two sentences. It's easier to follow that way. I'd say try to memorize it as much as you can and be yourself.
