So coach, what if I do all of this but the coaches still don’t put me in during reps at practice? Do they just glaze other players or do they just not like me
@firstdowntraining
Ай бұрын
Well I would ask 3 questions- do you know your playbook? Have you missed any practice? Do you do the little things when nobody is watching? If you answer yes to all of those then I’d say your time is coming. If one is a no, that’s a good reason as to why. Idk your coaches so I can’t pass perfect judgment on the situation but that’s what I’d say

Hey coach I have a question I’m a quarterback in high school and the thing I struggle with the most is when I throw on the run with a receiver running a 3 yard drag or slant I always end up throwing it at their feet any tips for me to fix this??
@skan8174
Жыл бұрын
I think just throw it higher, I think ur estimation of ball distance isn’t that good which causes u to throw it low. It may feel like it’s going to go right over the receiver, but throwing it high will prob land it right there

Try to really focus on your release point. I tell my guys “pretend you picked your nose and you are trying to flick a booger at the target” it’s a little weird but trust me it helps. On the run your wrist flick AKA extension point is everything

Thanks for your videos. Does playing at a weaker high school football program lower a students odds of getting a scholarship compared to if they play at a stronger program? If that player performed the same at both the weak and strong high school.thanks
@firstdowntraining

The stronger high school, usually has more college attention so it can definitely help. But, some bigger schools don’t have any college attention. So it just usually depends on how well connected the high school head coach is

Could you make a video on some route running/ agility drills specifically for routes a rb would have? I'm personally a fullback and would like to run better routes. Thanks

Coach Grant I understand you say show up to everything. What is your thoughts about academics programs the kid is in? Should the player be penalized?
@firstdowntraining
Жыл бұрын
It’s a tough call, while academics are important it kind of depends on the coach. Where I played in high school, which was one of the biggest high schools in California, we did not miss for anything. If it was grades related we still got benched for missing… was it the best thing to teach, probably not. But everyone on our team was eligible to play because they were there to play football. Never had any issues- but I think if the coach is fine with it then it should be fine. But obviously clear it with him first

Thanks for the info Coach I’m heading into my 8th grade year and can really go to any high school in NC I want but I don’t know how to figure out which school I will start on varsity the fastest how can I figure this out? And how can I know which schools get looked at the most?
@firstdowntraining

What I recommend is going where you have the most well connected head coach. If the school has a tradition of getting guys to the next level- that coach will know tons of college coaches and that’s how the recruiting process starts. It’s all about relationships, pick the school with the coach who has the best relationships
