Another video which turned out to be way longer than I first intended to buut I didn’t feel like splitting it up or cutting out any parts. If you ask me, I could make tons more of these videos, diving into each topic/talking point because there is so much more to running than what I’ve shared in this video. Nonetheless, I do hope you got inspired to start running yourself, found my tips helpful and simply just enjoyed another couple of messy days during marathon training :) As mentioned throughout the video, I am not a professional or educated on these topics. It’s just my own experiences :)

Dear Katharina. I have been watching your videos now for quite a while, and I have enjoyed them because you show a nice balance in life and commitment to eating disorder recovery. However I just have a little comment to make about this specific video. While I think, that your running journey is absolutely amazing and very inspiring for many, I think you should have made a disclaimer in the beginning of your video. I think it is safe to say, that many of your subscribers and the people who are watching your videos found you because of your content regarding you recovery from an eating disorder. I do want to mention, that I absolutely understand if you want to 'break out' of that 'role' and express other sides of yourself. But I worry that many of the people who watch your videos will take this video in the wrong way. A short little disclaimer in the beginning of the video, where you could just say that running is not for everyone, and that it may not be the right thing for everyone, would probably help so many of your viewers and reassure them, that maybe running isn't for them yet. This comment is not meant as rude or anything like that! I still really admire you and your content, but I just think it is important to keep in mind who tends to watch your videos, and know that those people often are a bit fragile when it comes to working out. I hope you understand what I mean.

Excellent tips and well done on starting the taper, most of the hard work is done. If you do get a running watch something like a Garmin or a Coros will do the job. I love my Garmin epix gen 2 but it’s probably overkill for most people. The coros pace 2 is an excellent introductory running watch, jam packed with features, that is under 200 euros. I believe that both Garmin and Coros will sync will Nike Run Club.

I ran my first full marathon in 2020 and after that I didn't run long distances. But I started running again! I am motivated by you, thanks Katharina:) Do you do post-run stretches or any routine for tight hamstring or calves? I have sore legs and there are only a few post-run stretch videos to follow... (BTW, I am Korean, living in Germany, do you have any plans to travel to Korea whilst you are traveling to Japan?)
@katharinaschneiderr

Awesome achievement of yours - may I ask why you didn't want to run those distances afterwards? I personally think that I'm getting so hooked on it and this marathon is for sure just the first of many! As i briefly showed in the video after my recovery run, I do stretch afterwards. I haven't always (quite a mistake) but I do feel that it makes the day after feel a bit better in terms of DOMS. I unfortunately don't have a set routine because it depends on how I feel after the run :)

@@katharinaschneiderr There are many reasons that I stopped running. I loved it, I used to run 60-70km per week. But as I achieved the goal(to finish the marathon), also I moved to different country (from Argentina to Spain) and I had to say goodbye to my running mates, which broke my weekly routine. Well I also was injured, I had a labrum tear, which I discovered that I actually had a hip dysplasie(I'm still in my 20s). I had a hip surgery, now recovered from it but the doctor recommended me not to run long distance. So I changed my sport. I am into bouldering and jiujitsu for the last 6 months, I want to add running(not too much) for my endurance as well, as I plan to hike 5000m long mountain hike this summer. Which month are you going to Japan? I am also going to travel Japan!
@katharinaschneiderr
5 ай бұрын
Oh I see! That's a lot of reasons combined - most important thing is that you do what makes you happy and something you enjoy in it's right amounts. I'm going to Japan 3 days after the marathon! So I leave on may 8th :)

Ha, ha, getting rid of the Bostons after half a year? My actual Bostons have 2300 km done already, still working ... Well, women and shoes ... 🙂 To complement that: No man would run without a watch. Running in shoes after the foam starts breaking down will actually increase injury risk. How do you know that all men run with watches? I doubt that. Such an odd comment to make it all about men vs. women.
@katharinaschneiderr
5 ай бұрын
I'm afraid you didn't quite get what I was saying. As @tilda3141 mentioned, it's not about the amount of shoes you have but the amount of miles you spend running in them. You can have one pair of shoes for years because you barely ever use them but another one for a couple of months because you use them every, single day. Should be self explanatory ! :)
