Some van lifers can use their conversions all year and the systems are always up and running. Other van builders are lucky enough to live in warmer climates, and so even if the van is being stored there is no worry about harm to an unused system from the environment. Unfortunately for the Van of Action we are not yet able to be full time van lifers - on the road every day and living a life of adventure and discovery… AND we live in Canada. Just recently moved to Ontario. Where the winters can be harsh and very hard on a van conversion. Be it a Promaster Van, A Sprinter Van or a Ford Transit, being exposed to sub zero temperatures will cause issues with any van , RV or camper. Precautions must be taken. The electrical system generally will be fine. The wires and fuses in the van conversion will not suffer from being exposed to cold weather. But the house batteries - the batteries that store the energy generated by the Renogy Solar Panels www.renogy.com... or the PowerMax converter system powermaxconver... can be baldy damaged if exposed to cold weather for an extended period. All types of batteries, AGM or lead acid batteries, Flooded batteries or Lithium batteries will not do well in cold weather and in some cases can be ruined. So making the 12 volt electrical system safe for the winter is critical to a happy and carefree summer vanlife. In this video we show you the way.
