Thank you for continuing these educational videos, for us newer turners they are very helpful. That looks like a heavy duty carbide cutter! May I ask the make? Again, thank you, look forward to your help.

I am glad the videos are useful, that’s what I was hoping for. The tool I am using in this video is made by Robert Sorby tools. It is their Turnmaster System. There are links for this tool in the video description that may help you with more research on the tool. The setup I used here is for the Robert Sorby Sovereign System which are their metal handles. I use the handle for multiple tools including some gouges. I really like the system and have used it for years. I bought the kit which is also linked in the video. When I bought the kit it had high speed steel cutters instead of carbide. I stuck with the HHS cutters since they are easily sharpened. I have purchased one additional round cutter and it’s still in the packaging. RS makes carbide cutters so you can use them if you prefer. What I like most about Turnmaster is you can use a variety of different shaped cutter heads all with one tool. It can be an investment but that one tool handles many tasks! Good luck and thanks for watching!

Bit dry isn’t it?

Yes, I did not lubricate the bit before drilling. I have not drilled wood using lubrication whether using the lathe, battery drill or drill press. I suppose a little mineral oil, tung oil etc. would not hurt. Thanks for watching and posting your question. If you have any other thoughts or questions, I would love to hear them. Thanks again!
