It’s always a good idea to packs off, isolation valve open. Will auto open the valve with packs off.. should. It’s actually modeled. All aircraft that use pneumatic starters it should be open for engine start. Then you can set it to auto. PMDG have it modeled and you can fail to start one side with it in auto. Pick a side for the igniters , Left or Right, use one side for entire flight. Don’t touch it. Pick a side. As for start modes. We know what ground is. (Grn) (Cont) for takeoff and landings. Or flying in badish weather. It will use whatever you’ve selected. L or R FLT mode turns both igniter systems on, In the real world, FLT mode is used only in conditions posing a significant risk of engine flameout. You don’t really ever use Both igniters. Pick a side. Swap to opposite next flight to save wear n tear.

You should do fire test before APU start and in real life you’re putting ADIRS to align after APU start. Also you won’t have your displays turned on before APU start in real life but looks like it’s not 100% accurate model when it comes to realism so it’s alright.

Nice video it is cool that you could fit it in 60 seconds but something you do in the wrong order. 1. Turning of A hydraulic system, this is completely unnecessary and i have to seen anyone do it. 2. In the 737 version modelled by pmdg you do not need to turn on fuel pump for apu start. 3. Fire test to be done prior to apu start.
@SpidaMez
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! just to clear some stuff up, 1. For SWA (southwest), the SOPs refer to classic 737 that you have to turn off hydraulic pump A. For some reason, (probably for commonality) they still have them for the NG. I'm not a real 737 pilot so I can not really say why 2. I did not know that tbh. Also in the real aircraft, it does need to be on, so idk 3. editing error on my behalf, you are correct.
@Hk-uw8my
Жыл бұрын
@@SpidaMez turning off the hydraulic system A is not (only) an sop from southwest, it is just that this hydraulic system controls the nose wheel steering. So if you connect a tow bar without bypass pin , the pressurized nose gear could be damaged or damage/hurt people and material around during the pushback. However if a by pass pin is used then it doesn't change anything to turn off the hyd sys A so it's no longer required. The apu doesn't need any fuel pumps to be activated at all in order to start on the real aircraft, as it can get its own dc boost pump or simply suction feed on the tank number 1. The pmdg is therefore just realistic on that point. But the reason why you will still see pilots opening fuel pumps after the apu has been started is because using the normal fuel pumps instead reduces wear on the system especially when you need the apu for a relatively long period of time. So if you just need it for one minute there is no need to turn on a fuel pump.
@Hk-uw8my
Жыл бұрын
@britishairways7473 Turning off hydraulic system A before pushback is necessary in order to prevent damages on the nose gear if no by pass pin is used. The reason is because this hydraulic system is the one in charge of the nose wheel steering,and you dont want to see which one between the hydraulic system and the towbar is the strongest.

I assume it's because it removes pressure from the nose wheel steering so the tug can swivel the gear. Normally there's a bypass pin that can do that but perhaps it's a safety measure to prevent damage to the tug if the pin falls out (Has happened before)
