I connect with the Gods in three ways. Every Wednesday I leave some food on my cats grave, I lift weights just about every day and I visit rivers and streams a few times a week. These are the times I feel their presence most strongly in my life.

Rituals do not need to be historically accurate. Rituals are personal, and should be designed to connect us to the Gods, to nature, and to everything. I think your "connection" altar and ritual is beautiful. It is very similar to my own :) ❤

What are your thoughts (Jacob or anyone else) about creating outdoor sacred spaces? My wild sacred spaces have been desecrated. We moved last year and I am fortunate to have a yard with some mature trees. I am thinking of planting more flowers, edible plants, installing a garden goldfish pond (my water site is desecrated and I desperately miss it) and working with the bit of nature our .51 acres of property affords us to make it a bit more special? My hope would be to work with the land and nature that is present to strengthen the connection to the sacredness of nature in our space. I don't feel super connected to the wide swath of weedy lawn that is there. Lawns seem sad to me. There is a very old 3 trunk holly that I hold special that would function as the primary part of my space. It also had a large branch? sprout? mini trunk? that was cut off and made level where I leave offerings, which are usually received by the squirrels after I leave. I would love some thoughts and feedback on this idea.

Great video as always!! I have a question ..you ever hear people say you have to earn the right to wear Mjolnir? I've been a Norse Pagan for the last year or so and have been questioned a few time's now. I think it's total b.s.. my ancestors from Sweden and Norway gave me the right as far as I'm concerned. BTW got the news letter yesterday, looks amazing...thank you. As always much respect!!

It's bullshit. Wear whatever you want. The only people who are going to care, are racists and idiots. Gatekeeping in this faith runs rampant, but it doesn't matter. It's about your personal relationship with the Gods- if it feels right for you, then you do you.

I can't always leave an offering but as far as daily practice goes as soon as I wake up in the mornings I go right into breathing exercises about three rounds to seven rounds of 30 to 40 breaths fully in and out rapid concessions. between the breathing about 1 minute of breath hold ner empty lungs. and in one deep breath and hold 15 seconds. and I repeat the cycle increasing breath holds and additional minute on each retention. Once I completing the breathing exercise then I go into ruin meditation. I generally use Ansuz or uruz.

Originally a Norse greeting, “heil og sæl” had the form “heill ok sæll” when addressed to a man and “heil ok sæl” when addressed to a woman. Other versions were “ver heill ok sæll” (lit. be healthy and happy) and simply “heill” (lit. healthy).

Thank you for sharing. My practice is to trace the Govering meridian (That I believe is Odin within) and then trace the Centeral meridian (that I believe is Odins wife, Frigga within). And then I breath trougth the nose and exhale out of the mouth, 4 times, connecting in my throat these two meridians. Those two meridians are those that supply all the other meridians with energy over the day. As a TFT/EFT practisioner working on clients with trauma. Trauma is where you are frozen in an experience e.g accident (what shamans call soul loss), the vagus nerve desociated you from the event because it was too much to take. If when looking at the Norse mytology, Odin is obsessed gathering fallen warriors (they are death = frozen). The deaths are your soul parts and very important to regain, and the Govering meridian (Odin) collects them in the brain as disconnected events that can become triggered (Book: The body keeps the score, Bessel van Der Kolk). At nigth when sleeping, in the rapid eye-moving part, some of the soul loss are becoming integrated again. But if it has turned into PTSD because too many traumas are getting triggered, it overloads the nervous system, and we stay in stress, having a disregulated Vagus nerve. I think the Norse mythology is a way to explain in oral tradition how the energies in the body works. Thor, I have found ,is the triple warmer, because he protects the house. I think it is fun to link chinese wisdom about the body energy system, the meridian system, to the Norse mythology. Then the stories start to make sense for me. 🥰

Rome brought an organized belief/religious structure aka religion. People in the “boonies” would do what they always did and add to it within their eccentricities. Taking into account, the current practices of their area/community. I usually just use a candle and an incense. And only a few small objects; which I can put into a box or bag and put away. Hence, I drive truck so not much room for anything big or grandiose. And majority of my time I just burn the incense and candle, have a drink if I can and smoke on my pipe, while I stare into the candle and just reflect/relax/meditate about my day and whatever else.

I am contently coming back to your channel for inspirations of how I can give to the gods and to the faith that have given me so much, i try to be as historic as possible but like you said its a very independent journey and each god reacted differently to things. i just want to say thank you for helping my follow a faith and gods i can admire and strive to be my best self that i can.

I know some people think sharing a altar experience makes it disingenuous, but I think sharing these things are so important to our community. So many of us don't have a local community or anyone to personally learn from. Even if they do, it's not always safe to openly show our faith. Any Pagan faith for that matter. Sharing some of these moments and what you do might be the only inspiration or direction to the next generation. It might be the only other person's altar some of us sees since he never see any in person. It might be the only sense of there being someone else out there besides the viewer. All at the cost of online harassment to the poster, which is no small thing anymore. Thanks for posting.

Hey Jacob! We’ve talked before, but I travel constantly as part of my work, so I always set up a small altar in my hotel room. If I make an offering, I also give food for their animal companions, Odin’s ravens and wolves, Thor’s rams, etc.. I also do other rituals , but I have yet to use candles because of smoke detectors! I know candles are powerful, I guess I should experiment. At home, I got barefoot and down on all fours, touching the ground, and asked Jord to protect my home and help all my trees and plants to thrive

Indo-European faith isn't a hodgepodge when you do comparative studies they are all connected and can and are being reconstructed. Hammer and Vajra, Fortress of Lugh, Survive the Jive, Arya Akasha all have shown this as well. This video isn't bad though as are most of yours, they are deep in the religion and scripture but very up lifting and positive

It'd be nice to have a flame under beverages to cause evaporation, giving the impression of a consumed beverage. I think that's why some cultures probably used burnt offerings, to fully consume the offerings. I imagine that beverages left outside in warm weather would evaporate before going moldy too.
