I’ve noticed that right after doing something i enjoy (drawing or especially after the gym) Tekken feels much much more enjoyable and I end up going on a win streak. I don’t rage when I lose I just go on. So I’d advice you to do some exercise or something before you start playing and you’ll notice that you’ll improve and get more wins

I don't play Tekken, but from playing other ranked games, my experience is that the anxiety of playing ranked starts when the focus gets too much on the climb win/lose aspect and the love for the game/gameplay itself gets lost. The answer is doing stuff that was fun for you in the game in the first place. Learning new character (not necessarily to main it, but to do something new and fresh), playing with friends, helping them get better if you have more skill.
@AveryxFGC

playing with friends personally helps me out a ton I know that for sure. something about locals for me is way less stressful than playing online, I think its the fact that I dont know who the other person is that im playing, but at locals I am sitting right next to them haha

Stop caring so much about your rank and losing in general. This helped me A LOT. When someone is completely trashing me or mashing in ranked, I'll do nothing except block, sidewalk, and punish when possible. Some nights, I'll try and win every match using only 3 or 4 attacks. I have a 40% percent win rate because of this 😂.
@AveryxFGC
Ай бұрын
hey win rate means nothing in tekken if youre enjoying your time with it! Caring about your rank can be good in some instances, but other times it really is just much better for your enjoyment of the game to say fuck it and do what you feel is the most fun!

Hey sis, just wanted to let you know that I'm a brand new Tekken player. I was in light-blue ranks when this came out, and I was thinking maybe I wasn't cut out for it, since I have pretty bad anxiety. One thing that helps me is stepping back from my computer and asking myself what I'm afraid of, and eventually I make it sound irrational enough to myself that I can muster up the bravery to do it anyway. I kept thinking about the things you said while I was practicing and playing ranked, and I've gradually been improving while managing to just barely keep myself calm enough to play well, lol. I just hit yellow ranks today! Thanks for making this.
@AveryxFGC

congrats on hitting yellow ranks!! its def a hard journey to get over anxiety of playing this game, but remember that the most important thing at the end of the day is you are enjoying tekken, no matter what that means! (besides cheating obv lol) keep pushing and feel free to ask questions/update me on your recent performances, I will happily answer any questions you have! you got this I know it, keep that grind going!!

Thanks! I haven't had a ton of time to play these past few days because of a super busy schedule, but I always fit in a little practice and a quick match or two before bed to keep my hands warm. I started the game on Jun, but eventually decided she didn't suit me. I'm playing Shaheen now and I'm having a lot more fun! I got my first perfect tonight too, in a quick match against another yellow rank. Even when I can't play much, just a little bit of practice per day goes such a long way. I'm gonna grind for higher ranks and work on leveling up my gameplay soon. Do you know Brawlpro and Sajam's Tekken slams? Those are actually the only reason I got into the game at all, lol. I've played Street Fighter and Guilty Gear before, but I already think Tekken is funner than any of them.

I am glad to hear you are enjoying yourself keep that grind up and let me know how you do, good luck out there!
@sondertt2220

I think the underlying philosophy to all this is to prioritize improvement over winning. Just cuz you lost 2 ranks in one day, it doesn't mean you got worse. You're still the same player as you were before you ranked up. Maybe you were against characters you had no idea how to counter, maybe you just had a bad day, etc. And at the same time, you can go on a 10-win streak without getting even a bit better at the game. You could've flowcharted on autopilot and your opponents just didn't know any better. That's why it's important to really gauge your skill level and recognize any improvement, no matter how big or small. Rank just shouldn't be the primary indicator of how good you are. Improving without winning beats winning without improving. Tekken is so complex and nuanced that it doesn't make much sense to base your satisfaction on medals and points going up and down. Of course, that isn't to say that there's no correlation between getting better and ranking up. But the idea is to treat getting better as one thing on its own, and let your rank increase gradually as a side effect of that improvement.
@AveryxFGC
Ай бұрын
absolutely! it really boils down to "dont focus so much on rank" but sometimes theres a few other things that might make the game unenjoyable for people! the video Idea stemmed from having severe anxiety and depression and learning to get around those problems to enjoy a game that I really love. A lot of people really do care a little too much about hitting a certain rank, and imposter syndrome can be a really real thing if someone might be worried they didnt deserve their rank, or struggle a lot where they are at! thanks a ton for the comment and great insight!
@Straaaayyyy

My way to handle tilt in ranked is to go to replay feature and watch where I could punish or be smarter in general. After that I go to training mode and practice in punishment mode. Low mid ranks always use extremely minus frame attacks. That takes a few minutes but result is significant

I just have fun with the game first and foremost and I always look at it as a puzzle. I always like to analyze what I can do better and lab a character. With some characters I just give up on because there is only so much time to lab characters. Like Alisa for instance. I do my best and get bodied, but I don’t let it bother me. I just move on. One part about ranking not just in tekken but also in other games sometimes this a problem where times you can't balance between fps gaming and fighting game at same time. You are right about the goal sometimes people wanted to rank boost to a lot of games like call of duty or valorant its becomes bad where you become inconsistent. I am not sure on that one, theres plenty of videos talking about ranked anxiety and the feeling to perform well in games, I think the main difference is just the skill gap in tekken. The game is objectively just harder than other fighting games, and when people really realize how in depth this game can be, they start to panic a little bit and anxiety can set in! The inspiration I got for this video was a video on anxiety from playing ranked in sf6, and ive been recommended videos about performing well in smash melee as well. The anxiety of ranked and performing well def is in other games, its just much easier to see in tekken because of how difficult it is!

@@mp32298 the movement is difficult forward and back, but adding side steps and 3D movement makes the game a lot more complicated! movelists are also completely different and significantly larger than most other fighting games so it can be overwhelming. Tekken 8 also has an abundance of just frame inputs and frame perfect tight execution that can also be a huge deterrent. the insane amount of strings as well means to really know a matchup you have to know whats negative, whats duckable, what strings arent true, what strings you can side step, and quite a few more! overall tekken is an extremely difficult and complicated game compared to other fighting games, and can for sure cause more frustration than other fighting games!
