Hi, this is Magan Chen.
All right, this is a part two video, so I strongly recommend you watch part one video first, please.
It's in the playlist, so we can watch that first. So pause this and go and watch that first, please, so that this will all make sense. Right.
Welcome back. Hopefully you've watched part one.
So that was an overview. Now, in this video, I'm going to talk about how to stop stuttering.
Using a music video to help you to learn how to speak fluently, I'm going to focus on what we call the singing speech.
All right, so that's the one that occurs third in the video where the singers are singing the chorus.
Okay, so what can we learn and how can you apply it? That's the important thing in this video. How can you practice? So imitate the singers first.
So go ahead and sing it a few times, feel what it feels like to actually sing it during the singing speech.
Okay, where it's impossible to stutter. You'll find that when you sing, it's impossible to stutter. So it's really important to get a feel of how it feels like not to stutter.
Include the bit about the who repeat the words, and again, feel how in the context of saying, you can actually say the words in a very controlled way without rushing.
So it's actually repeating the words, but it's not a stuttering type of repetition. So what you want to do is to feel how this way of talking makes it easier for you to speak fluently, experience it first and notice what you do differently.
How do you think about the talking when you start to think, okay, I'm going to imitate these singers and do the singing speech where it's actually the easiest for you to say fluently.
It's almost like foolproof. You're not going to stutter, okay?
You're going to speak fluently. So how do you think about it? How do you breathe?
How do you produce the sounds? What does it feel like at your vocal cords?
At your throat? How do you join the words together? How do you say everything on one breath?
And then what we do is to apply the same speech to other words, other sentences, or other questions.
So we keep everything the same and maybe just change one word first. So who let the dogs out becomes who let the rabbits out? Who let the hemises out? And then can slowly change more and more words.
Who ate my fries? Who took my phone? And then you even change the very first word. Why is the fan off? Why?
But remember to start with the same speech and stay in that mode, kind of switch yourself to a different channel and stay in that mode.
You can use other videos if you like, other music videos. Maybe you've got your own favorite singers or rap singers, and imitate the rap singing speech.
The idea is to go to a different mode of speaking, one that enables you to say it foolproof way where it's impossible to stutter and just experience that. And then you slowly shape it back.
Change it, gradually change one word, and then change two words and slowly shape it back so that it sounds more like your regular speech.
All right, so in this video, we talk about the first type speech that we heard in the music video, what we call the singing speech.
In another video, I'm going to be talking about another type of speech that we saw in the music video. So I'll see you there. Thank you. Bye.
