why dont you just use brush first to apply your foundation (this will limit the amount of your foundation), and THEN use the beauty blender to absorb excess product & to smoothen any foundation streak. That way you dont have to waste your moisturizer & setting spray. =_=

+lilyjuice Yes that's what I normally do - I've shown it this way in the video to demonstrate clearly that I've used the exact same amount of foundation on both sides! The trick works perfectly no matter if you apply the product directly to your face or sponge. Hope this helps xx

lilyjuice i personally use fingers first rather than a brush. Brushes absorb product as well - though not quite as much as a sponge. Fingers do not absorb any product and the warmth is excellent for spreading the foundation and getting it to melt into your skin faster. Then you can go in with a beauty blender to smooth out wherever needed.
@chelean

lilyjuice Thought about that too. Setting sprays are expensive so even if I save foundation this way, I still get to use more products than I should. So it's not a tip that would actually be useful to me.

@s.gabriel2853

I just switched from Loreal True Match to Estee Lauder Double Wear, and it makes SUCH a difference. It matches my skin tone, stays all day, and I am not nearly as oily now as I was with Loreal. (I used to blot my face after two hours.) It's not that I don't get oily anymore, but it takes longer to show up, and when I do get that shine, I feel like it's somehow much less obvious. The biggest difference is that I find I don't think about my skin or foundation at all during the day. It used to irritate me that I needed to blot and powder all the time, and the foundation STILL wouldn't look that great afterwards. Estee Lauder is pricey (no doubt), but I figured because it's foundation I should probably invest in something that's worth it, especially when it's on my skin all day. P.S. I can also recommend the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. My skin is sensitive, and I've found that other serums break me out. This one hasn't, and my skin doesn't seem to produce the same amount of oil the next day. I know, I know, I sound like a promotion, but I swear those are the only expensive things in my skin routine.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: the girl in the makeup counter was super helpful when helping me pick a foundation. I was interested in Bobby Brown, Clarins, and Estee Lauder. I asked if I could have some samples to try, expecting her to give me little one-day plastic sachets, but instead she took out three little jars and poured out enough foundation to last me a week each. That way I could test them out over a fair amount of time and see which worked for me. Good luck! I hope you find someone just as helpful in the makeup section.

I like to spread the foundation out over my skin with my fingers and then finish blending with the beauty blender. I find the warmth of my hands really helps make the best base, but I understand a lot of people don't like using their fingers. It's always interesting to see what other people do!

Thank you for the video, just what I needed , so no idea why there are so many negative comments with stupid ideas really, such as - it costs more expensive moisturizer + setting spray ( not in my case as my foundation costs £34), use your fingers etc. I've been using blending brush for ages, yet today tried beauty blender (damp, as advised) yet it took in so much of my expensive foundation that I got shocked! It was a nightmare, as the foundation is expensive! So decided to research what can be done and found your video and I loved it. Going to try as you advised, next time I am putting on the foundation.

I am all for spritzing you beauty sponge with a setting or prepping spray but I would never use moisturizer in my sponge. I've been a licensed Esthetician and Makeup artist for over 15 years and I wouldn't do that on a client. I usually apply foundation with a brush and use a sponge to smooth it out and get rid of any excess product. If you do this make sure you're using an oil free moisturizer especially. - just my opinion ✌

LiveLaughLove I use mine dry all the time... I actually apply my foundation with my brush then use the end of the BB and dab my face smooth. I also use it dry to blend my concealer out under my eyes. I find applying the foundation to the face already smoothed out, the BB doesn't absorb much product. Also I don't like the texture of my foundation when I have dampened it and squeezed out the water... still leaves it too damp for me. I may try this though. Definitely good to know!
