TwoSetViolin did a similar and amusing vid... Putting my (rented) violin back in its case and zipping up each time is such a faff on, so mine lies on my dining table... I live alone... away from a window, with the cloth from the case over it to protect from dust. I practice every day and often have the chance of a quick additional practice sesh. To get it out of its case would reduce that time considerably. A bit like doing a DIY job... Having the tools you need easily accessible means you're more likely to get the job done! Good point about storing violins in cars/car boots in the summer though. Will bear this one in mind when visiting my family! P.S. I'd also have to remove/replace my shoulder rest and tuner every time too!

I have seen the violin shop hang all their violins in the open air, not put them in cases. Is this a good way to store violin? Is there any concern about violin gets too dry and cause cracks?

Thank you so much for the information. When I want to store my violin for few months inside my closet should I loosen the strings a little to avoid breaking in case the changes in temperature ?

You should definitely NOT loosen the strings. The more the violin resembles how it would exist while being played the better. You do not want the violin to sit for a long time in a state that is completely the opposite of what you want it to be when you play it because when the violin is eventually played, it'll be a bigger shock to the instrument, which could cause damage and other issues.

@@KennedyViolins Thanks! I was looking for this answer because I might start the violin in a few months.

@@diabolicfish4424 But if you're practicing every day, your violin won't be stored for long anywhere, even in its case! Good luck. I'm 4 months in. It's super challenging but super fun.

i store my violin in my bedroom, open on a stand, since i can't fit it in while in tune + with shoulder rest, but i also have an semi-open aquarium in my bedroom, is it safe ? i'm just a bit concerned about the humidity

How big is the aquarium? if it's not right next to your aquarium you're probably fine regardless. But if you have like a 35 gallon aquarium or something and it's right next to it, that would probably not be a good idea. 😀

Avoid extreme temperatures....you mean like the temperature inside a UPS truck?
