How to Strengthen the Argument
- Which of the following best supports the author’s argument?
- Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the author’s conclusion?
You need to reinforce the conclusion given.
This means that if you sense a weakness in the conclusion, you need to fill-in that gap with your answer.
To find conclusion:
Option 1 - spot the opinion/author’s interpretation of the evidence.
Option 2 - spot the conclusion word:
would, will, therefore, clearly, so, must, should, needs, thus, ought + conclude, hypothesise - 75%
is/are - 25%
Once you have spotted the conclusion, ask yourself: ‘do I agree?’, ‘are there any logical leaps/flaws?’ and ‘are there any alternative hypotheses?’
I hope this video, and its critical reasoning questions, will give you the best CR strategies, CR techniques, and CR tips for GRE and GMAT. GRE critical reasoning has other sections, which I can cover in other videos, but my goal was that this video gives you the best Critical Reasoning advice for the GRE and GMAT exams.
