Hello? Don't you just hate it when people destroys antique wood furniture? I always thought the same thing when i seen old cars like 1955 chevy and some idiot destroys the car by adding a moon roof in it. If it wasn't for people like you to save furniture there wouldn't be ant wood furniture left everything now days is plastic or pressed sawdust. Keep up the great work kid-o your doing a great job!!!

Anytime I see paint on a piece that wasn't originally painted, I cringe. I mean I actually get a shiver because I am such an old hippy! My love for nature touches everything I have done in my life, with few exceptions. When I have restored furniture with paint on it, paint never gets put back on unless the wood is buggered up by painting it in the first place. Nothing is prettier on a piece of furniture than the grain. I collect wooden statues with wood from around the world and the variety is astounding. I am glad you replied to my plea to wearing a mask to protect your lungs from all the spray, sanding, and chemicals. Tom Johnson has a great channel too and as the old dog, he leads with the best action. Thanks for saying you are smartened up. I intend to watch and see. Teach by example. You have the body of work to show and it stands well but by not using protection, you are teaching a bad habit. Nothing feels worse than old lungs damaged from years of not being protected. This is something everyone can avoid. Just imagine a fish gasping as it lay on the ground before you. This visualization will help remind you to wear the mask because that is what it looks like to die from lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, COPD, an allergic reaction, and many many more reasons but the most important one is regret. Regrets make you beat yourself up. Knowing you did this horrible thing to yourself is as bad as self-torture. You are worth more to yourself! Someone's Nana............out!

I just love the way it turned out but was surprised she didn't want the hinges the same as the knobs in silver. Perhaps the screen is distorting what I am seeing. The hutch looks lovely and I had one exactly like that and gave it to my daughter with table and chairs when I got a new one after 47 years of marriage. I would love to see it done in white and passed down to my granddaughter who just got married and likes white country etc...........perhaps her mother will give it to her next? :-) I love how the finish turned out, it's just beautiful. Your talents are over the top and your attention to detail amazing and I am hooked on your channel. Just found your channel and I’m looking forward to catching all your content. I don’t do this professionally, just dabble in it but wondering a few things off the bat-are you able to adjust your price after finding the ‘can of worms’? Also, what size compressor do you use to spray? I just got a 20gallon, have never sprayed and wondered if this would be adequate for home/hobby stuff. In the shop tour I watched, yours looked massive. Thanks and love that you learned from your dad.
@johnsfurniturerepair
3 жыл бұрын
Hello Eric! Thanks for watching! I usually tell my customers the price will stay the same unless a large issue comes up. So yes, sometimes the price needs adjusting. I have an 80 gallon tank, but 20 will do fine, it will just run more often. if you are using a hvlp gun it helps to use less air and save your compressor. Thanks again!

Modernizing this piece by painting it white works well but the ornate cabinet topper looks out of place. The piece would have really looked classy with that removed. I agree about the knobs too. You did an amazing job the Finish was perfect if the finish is in decent condition like the one you were working on you absolutely do not need to strip the furniture before painting you can save yourself a lot of time try this start by scrubbing the furniture with maroon Scotch-Brite and tsp this will guarantee good adhesion by degreasing the surface and giving it tooth this step is Quick N Easy Now put on a couple coats of white primer now that the furniture is white you will be able to see any damage or imperfections now do all the necessary repairs and move on to the top coats

Hey John good to hear from you I hope you are doing well when I used to do this for money I became kind of obsessed with trying to find ways to save money or another way to look at it a faster way to do the job without compromising the results some of the things I came up with I have never seen anyone else do before or since and I've got some pretty good ones that I would be happy to share with you I probably should not have commented Trina's work because I was not there to decide what would be the best path forward I got to admit I hate stripping Furniture so much it's filthy stinky dangerous expensive time-consuming you bet I found ways around it wherever I could as long as it didn't affect in any negative way the overall product anyway I really like your shop Trina does an amazing job at her work and making videos both of which are hard to do here is one of my ideas this one actually got published in a national magazine and I won an award for it make a giant lazy Susan you get a bar stool swivel put it between two big pieces of plywood the idea is that it's big enough to put a dresser on it now when you are spray finishing you can turn the furniture in front of you instead of walking around it when you have to walk around it the lighting changes and there's always going to be areas where it's harder to see what's going on that's where you're going to get your runs drips and sags you also don't have to worry about your air hose cuz you don't have to walk around the furniture it really works good maybe you've already heard of this it was published about 25 years ago

Some color comes off with the stripping process, some more with sanding. If more color needs to go then I have to get into bleaching which usually means a trickier time blending and coloring in the paint booth. Cheers!
