I am a 69 yrs old man, retired, and stumbled into your CALC videos. I began to watch them and finally understood a lot of steps, so I'm learning and enjoying calculus for the first time -- thanks to your extremely good method and demeanor in teaching it. In college eons ago, I had to take 1 yr of Calculus and was so lost and as a result I did not do very well. So my passing but low grades brought down my GPA in other sciences classes such as chemistry and biology. Now through your videos I understand calculus better. Wish I had you as my teacher in the 70's!! :) So, keep up the good work and the way you teach and explain math !!! We all thank you very much!!

I'm 51 years old, not in School, but for some crazy reason just enjoy doing math for fun. I wish I felt like this when I was in School as I most likely would have done something in the Math Field. I started doing "math for fun" about 4 years ago and if my memory serves me correctly I distinctly remembering having some conversation with my wife which involved something to do with Calculus. I googled something and BINGO, I'm on KZitem with some Engergetic Guy Chanting "The Slope of Curve at a Point ... You Remember ... Do You Remember ... You Remember...". So I watched and I watched and I watched and have lived in "Leonard Land" for many years now. I literally have chosen to stay home and do Math Videos over going out to the movies on some nights. Okay so To The Point ... Prof Leonard Videos are A+++. This Guy is great at so many levels and his videos really do help anyone learn math. I use them all the time to help teach the kids I help teach math too. So I am just a Fan saying Thank You Leonard for all your hard work and great videos and ALSO recommending to ALL Students, Teachers, and Crazy People like me who just watch math videos for fun to Watch, Like, Subscribe, and Support the Channel :) I am just getting into the TTP Video's and I am really impressed with what I have seen so far.

I know this video is 5 years old and I don’t know who’ll see this, but some advice I can give is to make sure to work on what you’re weak on. I know this sounds obvious, but a lot of students like to practice the stuff they’re already good at when studying for a big test because it feels great to get stuff right and frustrating to get stuff wrong. If you find yourself falling in this trap, stop! Go back and focus on the difficult parts, this is how you learn

You've given me enough hope to not drop CALC2 (via correspondence) - my school lecture materials are insufficient, especially since I graduated uni 10 years ago. You've made trigonometric substitution a cakewalk as well as other forms of integration by breaking them down into simple logical steps. I like how you err on the side of giving us more explanation/examples and your emphasized warnings! This was a very useful methodology video. While I'm unemployed and re-training, I've turned off my ad-blockers for your videos and run them for at least 30 sec or click on the ad links. Thanks for interspersing them in a highly organized manner (at logical lesson breaks). Good luck to you and keep the videos coming - they're highly appreciated and can be career/life altering. Organic chemistry, same thing! Learn the basics by rote. What does O-H look like, CH3, aldehyde, etc. Draw ethanol, draw propanol, 6 hydroxy hexanediol, and so on. Now copy the reaction from your notes, listen to the professor's lecture as you do. NOW TURN THE PAPER OVER AND WRITE THE REACTION ALL THE WAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN. Turn it back and see what you did wrong, then TURN THE PAPER OVER AND WRITE THE REACTION ALL THE WAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN, again, and again, and again, until you can do it. Now, go onto the next one, etc. You don't know you know something until you can do it on a blank page. Excellent lecture! Exactly right, too! Thank you for this encouraging video Professor Leonard. It truly was inspiring and gave me that extra push i needed to conquer Calculus 2. I am a Chemistry major entering my senior year and thinking about taking Calculus 3 as an elective to fulfill my degree requirements. That is insane that I would willingly want to take another math class!!! I am saying all of this because you have opened my mind to this amazing understanding of Mathematics that I never had before. this all because of your passion for Mathematics and educating others on it. I am watching this video on 6/22/2020, keep doing what you are doing. Blessings to you and your family!

PROFESSOR , YOU TEACH US MATH IN THE BEST WAY AND PLUS YOU GUIDED US IN THE BEST WAY. THE 'FOCUSING ON MOST PROBLEMATIC MATH ' ONE WAS SO HELPFUL FOR ME. I JUST NEVER THOUGHT THAT WAY. THANKS A LOT FOR BEING THIS MUCH SUPPORTIVE.

At 49 years of age, calculus has become a hobby, and thanks to you, I'm able to do it. Where it takes me? Who knows? But physics will be impossible for me to learn without it. Thank you for all that you do for us!

I actually had a great maths teacher when I was at school, for 'O' level. My 'A' level teacher was rubbish and I dropped out after a year. He was one of those teachers who only attends to the ones who understand. Well, now I am home educating my son for his IGCSE maths and we have worked all the way through the course to pre-calc and calculus. The book is quite lacking (I think they assume you will be studying at school) and in desperation we have arrived with Prof Leonard. THANK GOODNESS! Thankyou! I'm looking forward to going through past papers and really consolidating our learning. (I have been doing all the exercises along side him).

Hey Professor, I'm starting my Mechanical Engineering degree and I'm going to be using these techniques, however you you have anymore for students that are taking a heavy math major, sometimes things get confusing between classes. Thank you for you hard work we appreciate you!!

@@user-qy6tu9ip9v if you are really bad in math then yes, people fail calculus not because of the calculus but because of the algebra. Calculus is really one or 2 lines of work the rest is all algebra. Good luck

I am in eighth grade math. It is to easy, so thank you for teaching me some “harder things” in one video! It’s so easy to grasp onto your math videos and topics. I have learned quaderatic equations, and Exponencial and Logarithmic equations! I finally have somewhere I can learning instead Of The easy grade eight math.

I made a patreon account just to support you. Honestly Professor Leonard is the only professor that I actually understand the lectures. My professors make too many notes and is mostly examples, but the way that Professor Leonard shows us the fundamentals of the proofs really helps me out more than just seeing example after example. If I can't understand the proof than the example is something Ill remember but forget later. Thank you so much for your help in Calc 2 (I took it in the summer in 1 month and wasn't sure I would be able to do Calc 2 in one month, but you helped me out so much) Greetings from Houston Texas

re: problems that are sticky: I find that even with problems that feel impossible and unyielding, even with those you can always find elements of the problem that you can do something with. You can factor something here and simplify something there and if you keep doing things, keep fiddling this way, a lot of times things start falling into place and lo! the solution becomes available! Hard problems in other areas of life can be approached this way also with good effect.

I'm new and here to stay. I like thing's to be explained as simple and quick as possible. I turned my brain off from math, due to my first grade teacher being upset every day with me and saying "skip her, she isn't smart enough, I don't know why she just can't understand. And it traveled with me all my school year's...Now I want to get into R.N school and I have to take the Teas 6 exam, so here I am...ready to learn and be full of math knowledge!!

Put notes and examples in a separate notebook from the one you do exercises in. Don't just take notes, you want the notes to follow. Put in practice. Put an alarm on your phone to not pick it up or have any distractions for a set period of time. Aim for an hour+, set the timer for 5 minutes and then set the alarm for another hour+. This will help you achieve better marks in math. Watching Professor Leonard before your class lecture will put you over the top. Good luck folks.

Don't let anybody tell you that you can't learn this stuff. Take good notes. Redo all the steps without the notes. Internalize the ideas. Ask/write down questions. Make use of the guidebook.

I am 70 years old and am pursuing calculus with the enthusiasm of an ardent golfer. I have gone through calculus lectures on limits and understand them quite well. What is the book you refer to in the lectures and where do I find out about the home work assignments? Your are an excellent teacher and I wish there were more like you in my high school and college.
