I think I'm going to cosplay by myself, which is going to be a little scary for me. ;-; None of my friends cosplay, well, except for one. And she lives in London and I don't! DX And also, for the convention near my house (which is about 1 hour away) I'm hoping for my Dad to take me, and I don't know if he's going to leave me there for an hour or 2 or not. Besides, I don't even know if he's going to take me or not. I don't know what to do. D:
I'm going as the Undertaker as well! To the Tomo Fair in the Netherlands. Everything this guy is saying is really useful, I really messed up my first convention. I mean, it was fun, but I was wearing a chestpiece with like a bazillion pieces, and at a certain point they all fell off and the whole thing broke. Hadn't done a proper cosplay testrun... Well, have fun! Undertaker isn't a really difficult cosplay in my opinion, but it is tons of fun.

I don't think there was enough emphasis on BRING A WATER BOTTLE! Even if you are in a usually cold country and its raining and stuff it's alway important to have something to hydrate you and or cool you down. Chances are when you get there and they have stalls with food and drink the drinks are going to be ridiculously overpriced, the venue is going to get really really hot (as you can imagine). Never make the mistake of not brining water especially if you are cosplaying a costume which gets overheated quickly and/or covers up your mouth. I had frineds at cons fainting because of this. (good tip for your water, freeze the water in your bottle before hand, make sure you just have a blob of ice, wrap it in a plastic bag so it does not get the inside of your bag wet. Then when you pull it out like 3 hours later itll be partially ice and partially just really nice, refreshing cold water)

Hello there!! I watched this video back in 2015 when I was dreaming about going to conventions at a younger age. I'm now 20, and my most recent convention was FanExpo 2022. I loved your sense of humour and practical advice to making the most of all my convention experiences, and I want to pass on my thanks. You've definitely played a role in some of the best experiences of my life. Please keep this relic of the early 2010s anime scene up, it's everything. Take care!!

Something important that wasn't brought up, and yes it seems very obvious but trust me you WILL forget it: CHARGERS. BRING. YOUR FUCKING. CHARGERS. Camera, phone, anything; if you don't specifically write it down and pack it, you WILL forget, and then you'll be in your hotel after the first night with a dead camera/phone and a sad face. Also, ladies, if Shark Week is anywhere close to convention time, remember to bring pads/tampons/what have you. Sure, you could just buy some at a nearby store, but that's money that could be going towards food and merch.

@petralincic3882
10 жыл бұрын
idk that much about stinky people i mean if some do come across you, you probably wont mind so much like theyre there for a few seconds, minutes maybe and thats it but look out for creepers. just. dont go anywhere with strangers unless you have someone who can protect you with you and be careful. i cannot stress this enough *be careful*. cosplay is becoming more mainstream and with it more people are involved which means our community isnt our safe little heaven anymore its quite dangerous but still lovely but also a bit psycho world. BE /CAREFUL/.
@HetaliaCalifornia
10 жыл бұрын
A quite amount of people, yes. Depending on your location or con you're participating in. And *_ABSOLUTELY_* be careful and stay with people you know, I usually go with close friends or family members. Definitely familia (even if it's just one or two) because at least they're people you know, can trust and protect you. Especially relatives that you know can kick ass if someone attempts to do something to you that you don't like.

one word of advice if you live in Canada and your convention is near a Tim Hortons which I guarantee it will be because Tim Hortons are everywhere buy a tims card previous to the convention and put $20 on it. I went to a 2 day convention and lived of Tim Hortons. they have actual food like soup and sandwiches along with coffee and donuts all for under $3. and believe me you will get hungry and its not worth it to pay $5 for a plain boiled hot dog at a convention when you could get a damn meal at Tims for $3

Thanks for making this, it was really helpful! This year for Fanime... heh heh heh, we sort of ARE shoving 8 people into one room, and half are putting on full-body grey paint. x/ At least we technically do have two rooms booked, so I think we'll be able to work it out. As for advice... well, I definitely agree about most of it. For me, the schedule thing was a big deal because after each of the three cons I've gone to, I always thought there were things I should've done that I didn't. Other than that, stay calm and use common sense! Good luck surviving out there :D

My first convention back in November was awesome. It was really relieving to sit down and have food in my bag (Don't bring chips unless you like eating tiny crumbs though.... Bad planning.) to consume with my cousin. We drank a lot of water, which I suggest more than soda (I am a soda ADDICT and I'm saying this.) because it will refresh you more. Also don't be me. I felt worn out and sick at the end of the day, and so I used that as an excuse to not take a shower. The people within my hotel room told me I didn't smell bad (They would tell me, they're blunt about smell. xD) but that's probably because my costume covered up a lot of smell-prone areas that not all costumes do. So next convention I pledge to take a shower every night unless I am either puking my guts out or have a broken limb. xD

I might go to my first convention with a group of friends next year, I'm so excited!! But the con is one day long so I have to choose one cosplay and I can't choose between Aradia Megido (homestuck), Terezi Pyrope (homestuck), human!Oshawott (pokemon), human!Vaporeon (pokemon), and human!Umbreon (pokemon). Also, my friend recommended some animes for me to watch before the con, and then I'll be even more torn between the options because I will probably have more ideas ;~;.
@l.a.k

Make sure that you have enough time to make your cosplay. You don't want to freak out two days before the con because your cosplay isn't finished yet. And, as soon as you've decided; STICK WITH YOUR COSPLAY! Because you'll start making stuff and buying stuff and if you last-minute decide you can wear something else, you have a whole load of useless cosplay stuff you can't do anything with. Oh, and make sure you don't do anything too difficult for your first convention. School uniforms are easier than armour.

Green Sonic I'm sure your con will be tons of fun, even if there is something that went a little wrong. Every cosplayer has that at a certain point, at least I had that and my friends too, and it really doesn't make such a big difference. Have fun at the con!!

Ah, okay, and if there's a little difference in your cosplay from the original, it doesn't really matter, in my opinion at least. For my Arya cosplay I don't wear silver armor but golden armor, for example. I could dye it gold but I like it that way so, as long as you're confident yourself, it's okay.

You are sooo adorable! A bit crazy but meh. All your points are valid and I'm going to send this to my friend. A couple of things I would add is make a meet up point, phones are impossible to hear and it's convenient to know where to meet friends. Also if you see something you really want buy it. You won't be able to find it again if you leave it and finally cosplayers are the nicest people you'll meet, but if you're both after the same merchandise, be prepared to 'fight' for it. :p

A few extra things to keep in mind as well: 1. BRING CHARGERS/BATTERY PACKS. 2. Make sure to get to the autograph signings early. The lines are slow and back up fast, especially for the more popular actors/actresses. 3. Go to bed early. Walking around for 16+ hours is not fun on 4 hours of sleep 😛.

I'm 13 and I'm broke too. I've always wanted to cosplay, but god... the expenses of costumes and the trip? Worth more than my life.

There's no such thing as "too young" to cosplay! Many cosplays can easily be created from places such as Goodwill until you're able to begin getting fabric stuff and make your own! Goodwill will be your FRIEND. Talk to your mom about it, and how much you really, truly want to go. Don't let age stop you! Show your mom one or two episodes of a really good anime. She needs to see how much this means to you! Age doesn't define whether or not you can go to anime cons. I introduced anime to my mom a year ago (I was 11), and now she's really supportive of cosplay! Heck, she even let me start a cosplay group, which I will get to when we have a decent amout of wigs. xD She's also taking me to MTAC, only for one day, but I'll surely get the most from it~ You won't know until you try! Good luck! If all else fails, if you have any friends you enjoy anime as well, there's a chance that their parents could take you and your friend~

Yeah im 12 too and I didnt think there were any other people close to my age that wanted to cosplay. But im kinda nervous to tell my parents I want to cosplay as an anime character. But I live around orlando and jacksonville so I guess when they have an anime convention ill go. :)
