Lesson 4: Bubbles and Breathing
Hi and welcome back to the swim teacher. I hope you all had fun practicing last weeks activities? Let me know in the comments section how long your child was able to hold their breath for underwater. If this is the first time we are meeting my name is Carryn and I have been a swimming teacher for over 15 years. I have been adapting my techniques during lockdown so that they can be practiced at home and without a swimming pool.
This week we are going to be teaching our children how hold their breath and blow bubbles in the water.
Last week I was showing you how to teach your child to hold their breath and put their faces underwater. If you missed last weeks video, please clink on this link.

Lesson 4: Bubbles and Breathing
Activity 1: How to blow bubbles in the water
Step 1. Teach your child to suck in air and hold in their mouth
Step 2. Get them to wear googles and look down putting mouth in the water
Step 3. Blow bubbles for 3-10 seconds through the mouth
Activity 2: Submerge whole face underwater and blow bubbles
Step 1. Take a breath
Step 2: Look down and place face underwater
Step 3. Exhale fully blowing bubbles through mouth
Repeat these exercises 5-10 times each day this week, either in the bath or somewhere at home using a tub of water. Try to get your child to make funny noises whilst blowing bubbles.
Learning how to hold to blow bubbles from your is an important skill when it comes to swimming, but as you can see you don’t need a pool to be able to start learning how to swim. Most people do exhale from their noses whilst swimming and this is what we will be working on next week.
Please follow me on Instagram for more tips on teaching your child how to swim at home.
