Hi, tried this method instead of the rules from episode 5 on my TuyaMCU dimmer. Works like a charm. I only tested the dimming part of EP5, but this is way faster and way more responsive. Would it be possible to implement the second part of EP5, controlling the color temperature with a long press, like this? And how would you go about then?

Nice! So you don’t really need HA now. No one uses HA but me anyways. So just need a $5 Pi zero running MQTT. Need to figure out how to use Alexa where SSML/TTS works all the time. I seem to have to reset her in HA every couple of weeks or after an HA update. So when lights come on/off she states it. Or the Garage Door opens all Alexa devices state it. It seems simple but it’s a pain to figure out what’s wrong every couple of weeks.

This worked for me with GroupTopic prior to 8.2 but it's not working for me using DevGroupName on 8.5.1. Confirmed Setoption85 was on in both devices and both devices are showing "kitchen" under DevGroupName1. When I use DevGroupStatus I get the following (each line is defferent device) 15:26:18 MQT: Kitchen_Light_01/stat/RESULT = {"DevGroupStatus":{"Index":0,"GroupName":"kitchen","MessageSeq":4,"MemberCount":0,"Members":[]}} 15:27:33 MQT: Kitchen_Light_02/stat/RESULT = {"DevGroupStatus":{"Index":0,"GroupName":"kitchen","MessageSeq":6,"MemberCount":0,"Members":[]}} This is driving me nuts. GroupTopic worked perfectly, not sure why I can't get this to work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This is great!! Makes it much easier. Quick questions: 1. If using two dimmers in a three-way fashion. Does the dimming level sync up as well between the two dimmers? 2. I assume that we still need to set the max and min dimming levels? You mentioned something about not needing any dimming rules at the end of the video. also, one comment: It would be really nice if in the text that follows the videos if you would summarize the commands so it would be easy to copy and paste them. Great work though!!!

Yes the dimming level would sync up as all functions are going in and out. I didn't have a second dimmer on hand to try with at the time. Question for you, right now using HA when I set a fade effect to cycle colours on my group, all my bulbs (I have 18 in total in a group) change colours at different times, presumably because of some message delay - question, will this sort this? It might as this is using UDP. If you are using light groups then I could see them getting out of sync since it is using multiple MQTT messages. You could also try using a grouptopic to hit them all at once.

I think I now understand SO88 is for remote operations and as such isn't really to do how the relay relates to the DevGroupName. Rather you can use DevGroupSend (1,2,3,4) and any switch who's DevGroupName matches it will be controlled. So I can't use it to group relays based on button press.

So, I'm curious.... How do you handle like a default setting (IE: color temp, brightness, etc..) Example: I have 2x 5 channel lights over the bathtub for the kids to enjoy, however, what I want is that if the switch is powered off then all those colors are gone and everything goes back to normal. I'm not even really worried about dimmer settings right now. At some point i'd like to change the 12 regular LED bulbs out for 5 channels as well but they would have to follow the above as well. Unless I change the color it functions as a normal dimmable light and doesn't retain color when "rebooted" (off/on) Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

@@digiblurDIY Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear. I would like to have the light group default to a particular setting (temp, brightness, etc.) when powered on. We turn the lights off and go to work the next day. Cleaning lady comes over and turns the lights on....they are still green and she has no idea how to change them since she only knows to hit the button on/off. Training her or anyone else to hit the lights in some sequence isn't really an option. Possible Solution: We turn the lights on in our living room and they go to a specified setting (IE: 60% brightness at warm white). Same party, same green. We turn them off to go to work. Cleaning lady comes over and turn the lights on and they go back to the specified setting (60%,warm white). She'd still be able to adjust the dimmer but the lights would just always start at a pre-defined setting. Sorry for the long post but maybe that explains it a bit better.
