Cheap upgrade: Remove the stock fan, attach the cooler to your motherboard, strap Noctua fan to the lever on both sides. I've done it to a PC in a guest room and the PSU fan is the loudest one now. GPU has two Noctua fans strapped to it too. Yea, it voided the warranty, but it's so damn quiet.

I did that trick with a 92mm Noctua fan, however it did not do any favor for me. I use a Ryzen 7 2700 in a small HTPC desktop cabinet, it runs the Prism fan about 600rpm in idle/low load and it doesn't make alot of noise, and it runs with 600rpm up to 55C. Even at load it still only hits about 1800rpm max and under 60C since the 2700 is a pretty cool running chip with its low baseclock. So I then tried swapping with a Noctua NF-B9 to see how it would behave when overclocked to 3.8GHz at all cores. The Noctua simply couldn't keep up since it maxed out at 1800rpm and it was 6-7C hotter than with the Prism fan.

I love that I am not the only person using the new stock coolers on am3+ motherboards to give great cheap top down cooling with an updated style it's hard to find a quality cooler with a top down fan good rgb implementation and all for less than $25 - $30 on the used market because everyone buying new cpu's sell the included coolers to recoup some of the costs lol

Omfg I finally got it - there are 2 tabs to release it, they're suuuuper hidden and difficult to get to, but they're by the lever that clamps the cooler to the CPU. You have to push them inwards simultaneously and then pull quite hard to separate the fan from the cooler. I used a metal spudger to help me release the clip stuck behind the lever. Hope this helps!
