1999 had a Hemi Thyroidectomy due to a very large tumour I found in my neck.. It was a Follicular Adenoma 6cm x 11cm growing down my throat. I was discharged from hospital and told to see my GP in 6 weeks. By the time I did, I was a mess and actually cried when he asked how I coped with the surgery. My reply was great doc, however I am so horrifically tired!! Exhausted 😩… he just smiled and said how am I taking my Thyroxine!…… and was annoyed I was sent home from hospital without being told I would need it…. Still take it and apart from a very soft voice now I am doing great on the meds…

I take an oil based liquid drug since every pill failed absorption and I went into heart failure. For years, even today, my levels still are not right and a lot of the health issue I have is because of this drug not absorbing correctly. I found it suspect it’s all food related why nothing is working, you can NOT take any type of soy products or products with soy in them and or drink coffee with this drug which I always have since the day they removed my thyroid. So now I’m going to start this diet change in combination and see on the next blood text if this worked and I believe it will. I’ll give an update but im sure there are many others out there like myself. It can take years to get your levels right since most doctors are uneducated in this area and im talking about the ones who even specialize in this area of expertise. Patients need to advocate for themselves and do their own research as I did! If it wasn’t for the research I’ve done myself, who knows where Id be today - I’m only still able to talk about it because I’ve constantly been on top of my own health and research.

Levothyroxine (aka Synthroid) rarely works by itself. It replaces ONLY T4. Your body also needs T3, which the body is supposed to be able to convert Levothyroxine into T4 *in a thyroid gland that's functioning right*. But if it was working, we wouldn't need medication in the first place. So there's a lot of people who don't get relief from symptoms with Levothyroxine alone. Ask your doctor for Armour Thyroid. It's a naturally derived source of thyroid gland that also replaces T3, eliminating a lot of symptoms that Levothyroxine alone does not, including weight loss in many individuals. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

@@arrepuess glad you checked and are taking it with K2. I got off of synthroid a few yrs ago and went a more natural route and eventually my tsh was normal but…. Now it’s back with a vengeance and I’m looking into what the real root causes are for me. My D3 is at 20 and I’m a mess with other symptoms so needless to say I’m deep diving into lots of research which mostly all is found via Functional medicine or integrative med docs. That’s where I’m headed. Can’t wait to be treated by someone who is passionate about your “overall” health. You might want to look into natural desiccated thyroid instead of levothyroxine. I was on levothyroxine for 20 years and although it did provide T3, it did not improve my symptoms. My endocrinologist changed me over to NDT and it did help but neither one totally eliminated the symptoms.
