Thanks for the tip! I have seen people use different things to push against the side with great results. Some even roll the edge of the tumbler on the table. For me, I’ve found that I sometimes miss a spot by just doing that. But I should try using a scraper, then adding my second piece of tape. I like the idea of having some help getting the wrinkles out. Thanks again for the tip, and thanks for watching!

I’ll definitely work on trying to add a video (or maybe a short) on measuring, cutting a d wrapping the paper. In a nutshell, my top is flush with the top of the cup, my bottom is long enough to just start curving on the bottom, and my paper overlap is about 1/8” total (1/16” image and 1/16” blank paper). Sometimes that 1/16” is more like 1/8”, but I try to keep it at 1/16”.

Maybe I need the wider tape.. No matter what I do I still get a little triangle of ghosting at the top and bottom. I've pushed it down, taped it heavily, etc. Most recently I bought the clear heat tape. I've always worried about my center seam not looking perfect. I switched to an overlap and it's a little better. But no matter how much attention I give it, it's still almost always visible. I use a scraper tool but I usually have at least a few spots at the top and bottle.

Hi, Valerie! Are you measuring your cups with no white on the top and bottom and also are you leaving a.little over lap where the two sides come together or is it exactly the size?

Very informative video! What measurements are you using for your sublimation print?
@industrialfringe953
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! My prints are 9-1/4” by 8-1/8”. There is about 1/16 - 1/32” design overlap and just under 1/8” white paper overlap. The hope is the total overlap, design and white paper is around 1/8”.

how do you add that line for the seam on your images, I have a ton of images, but I generally wind up creating a glitter line or a paint line and then epoxy over it once.

I would suggest trying a different brand of tape, as some tend to leave a yellowish mark. I have a link to the tape I use in the description of this video and highly recommend it!

If you use the blue heat tape instead of the brown it doesn’t leave color marks on the bottom

I’ve heard a lot of folks have good luck with the blue. But I have heard of a few people that had problems. It’s probably the particular manufacturer. That said, I swear by my brown tape! I’ve never had any color marks on my projects! Ever! Thanks for the tip, and thanks for watching!

I’m so sorry to hear that. Remember, all yellow tape isn’t the same! I love my Amazon tape. I regularly put it directly onto substrates and I haven’t had any issues. And it happens to be yellow! Hello what is the temperature in your tumbler press? I have done 3 tumblers and the colors look awful either burn or not bright, blacks look brown. I can't figure it out 🙁
@industrialfringe953
Жыл бұрын
Blacks coming out brown is an indication of too much time and/or a temperature too high. I bake at 365 degrees for 50 seconds, rotate 180 degrees, 50 more seconds, rotate 90 degrees, 25 seconds, rotate 180 degrees for a final 25 seconds. All light pressure. Best of luck, and thanks for watching!

When you use your tumbler press do you just press it with only the sublimation paper on the cup or do you just lose wrap a peice of computer paper to catch bleed? Is there bleed?
@industrialfringe953
Жыл бұрын
Funny you should ask! For coffee mugs, I add a piece of copy paper, but for tumblers I do not! Don’t ask me why, I don’t know! Well, truthfully I do know, i]but it’s a little embarrassing! When I first started using a press, I was doing coffee mugs and began using blowout paper. When I did my first few tumblers, I forgot to add it, and then just kept going with that process! But I do suggest people use some sort of blowout paper, just to make sure no ink gets on their press!
