I'm sick of catching crayfish. Are there any tips on fishing the bottom if there are a lot of crayfish?

Sorry to reply out of no where but don't suppose you've figured a way around the crayfish? My local river is absolutely full of the things which makes feeder/ledger almost impossible. I've found that avoiding tungsten helps a bit as crayfish love that metal for some reason. I've also found they're more keen on smellier baits. I can sometimes get 15 minutes without a crayfish while using maggots/worms instead of spam or deadbait fish when piking. The only proper method i've found to avoid them is float fishing slacks and trotting passed features. Hope at least some of that helps and do let me know if you've got your own tips for avoiding them :)

I add another step. Dip your maggots in scent (scopex, shellfish, crab...) Fish find hookbait (maggots) 50% faster, especialy in colored water.

Can you use hybrid or method feeder on rivers instead of the cage feeder?

I think that totally depends on the river, maby hybrids would work, but generally method is more for stillwatter comercial fishing. If the river has a strong current and is deep ( more than 3m - 10ft, the bait in the method would probably wash away quite quickly and just not be effective. I fish on big rivers with strong current casting 50-60m and sometimes using up to 100g cage feeders, methods are just not heavy enough to cast that far and stay in place.

Best way I've found to catch bigger fish is to move all day and wear a butt plug
