Wondering how to tell if your dog or cat is overweight? Is your dog fat or cat obese? Are you actually asking is my pet too thin? Find out for yourself with the simple act of body condition scoring and be certain your pet is the healthiest version of themselves they can be.
The body condition score is a quick, easy and free test. Anyone can learn to do it and it will let you know for certain if your dog or cat is too thin, healthy, overweight, fat or obese.
You just need to answer 3 simple questions.
This is so important because we can only address the dangers of pet obesity if we can recognise that our pets might be affected and can honestly answer the questions "if my dog fat" or "is my cat overweight". We can only take action to tackle obesity if we know if our pets are fat or not.
Did you know that overweight dogs and cats are more likely to suffer from significant diseases such as arthritis and diabetes? Did you know that they are more likely to have a worse quality of life and die younger?
Learning how to condition score your dog and cat is worth a little effort. Then taking 1 minute out of your day every month to body condition score your pet will know for certain they are not becoming too thin or overweight and are hopefully the healthiest version of themselves they can be.
