This system would be better served using a triplet rythym to denote groups of 3 hours and groups of 3 individual minutes. Otherwise you end up with a long series of uniform tones that become difficult to parse.

Will be more practical if instead of set of quarters been sets of 10. Any counting above 10 is easy to lose Also will be less: 3 chimes for 15 + 13 for minutes = 16 chimes 5 chimes for 10 + 8 for minutes = 13 chimes

i feel like this could be sped up significantly by using a roman numeral style of ordering; this was 12:58 (12L 3M 13H) but could've just as easily been (12L 3M 2H 1M) or, even better, (2H 1L).

Okay so i think it will be way faster if there was just a braille watchface. You can even have the exact seconds in it. And functions like alarms, stopwatch, timer etc. This sound thing while impressive is way too slow to read time.

The mechanism was originally invented when the whole town has only 1 - 2 guys wealthy enough to own a watch. When the streets are pitched back (no electricity) they can tell the time by listening to the chimes

Some of the most impressive watches I’ve ever seen are minute repeaters. And to think, the initial plans of design were for the blind or others who could not use a standard watch or pocket watch to read the time. So interesting!!!!!

Made for the blind? If I remember correctly that was not the case. Minute repeaters were made so you can tell the time when it was dark. So instead of lighting a candle you were able to hear the chimes to tell the time. They were very expensive to make even back in the day so only the richest people owned one.

But if you're the type of person to "just use your phone", you're not going to buy a watch or value the mechanics of it, are you? I guess what I want to say is, while this watch is a beautiful piece of art and an eye-catching statement piece, it's also a disability accessible watch. People with disabilities want to feel like they fit in, and if having a watch that chimes the time makes them feel more comfortable, all the power to them.

Mechanical minute repeater is very expensive, for sure! However, Citizen has a few eco drive watches with minute repeaters for a much more affordable price.

It would have to work as individual notes. Like A B C D E G. Then that repeats for the quarters of the day. 1 2 3 4 5 6, then 7 8 9 10 11 12, and the same for the other side. No reason for telling which quarter of the day you are in for common sense. But it might go like If it's six it would ring once with a G sound. Then it would just do quarter sounds or something. Know what I could probably program this in like 10 minutes.

Saw a relatives minute repeater pocket watch last week, and it was really cool. Seemed to have a spring lever on the side to both activate the chimes and power them independently. I wonder how the watch powers the chimes and what drain that is on the mainspring.

So the information remains the same but takes much more complexity and slower. Instead of just looking at the dial and instantly seeing the hour and minute hand, you have to now listen to the chimesz figure out the number of dings. And if you miscounted the dings, you're lost. What have you achieved besides bragging about spending $100,000 for some fancy watch that doesn't do anything mkre than a $20 Timex?

No one needs old time useless things that cost crazy a lot. Old Generation will be replaced with my generation soon. None of those old time watches have any use in modern world. We have smartwatches so what’s the point of old time watches? Yea we can make our smart watches To make what ever Sound we want anytime we want. 😂
