Hi - I’m newly diagnosed. I more than likely contracted the virus no more than a month ago. I found out due to regular testing. I’m on my 5th day of meds (pretty smooth so far). While I’m not scared, thankfully because of my education on the subject, I can’t help but be a bit saddened at my lack of self-responsibility. I also recognize what’s done is done, I can only move on. Thank you for this channel, and thank you to everyone that has helped to make this a safe environment. ❤️

Wow im impressed by how strong you are with the diagnosis, as in, being educated and knowing that it can be managed nowadays so it’ll be physically ok. If/when you get sad and angry about it, those feelings are 100% valid and welcomed ❤️ the hiv diagnosis is indeed something we need to accept and move on from - meanwhile keep enjoying your life :)

I don’t have HIV, so I can’t begin to understand exactly what you’re going through, but I definitely understand regret. Like you said, there’s nothing you can do about your past choices now, but taking responsibility for those choices should be celebrated and admired. You should be proud of yourself. IDK know where you live or your story, but if the person that gave it to you knew that he had it and didn’t disclose it to you before you had sex (if that is how you got it), that’s illegal in America. People have literally gone to jail for it. Do what you will with that info, but it’s good information to have. When you feel down, just remember that we are so blessed to live in a time where this once horrible disease is no longer a death sentence. I have no doubt that you’re still going to live an amazing life full of love and happiness! Good luck to you, and God Bless.

@@dianakoss2686 Thanks so much for this reply! Whelp… I’m 4 days from being on my meds for 60 days. Can you believe I had a viral load of OVER 10,000,000!?!?!?!? I know that was because it was a new transmission. However, in less than 60 days, I went from over ten million copies to a V/L of 139 (about 2.5 weeks ago. My doctor said he’s shocked at how low my viral load has gotten. He was convinced he was going to have to put me on two meds, and it was going to take at least six months. One of the things my doctor said is that he believes my beginning ART within two weeks of transmission might be responsible for the rapid plummet in V/L. Whatever the case may be, I’m so thankful. I’m Healthy, strong-minded, and I feel great, to be honest. I am so grateful for all the doctors, researchers, and long-term survivors who have put SO MUCH WORK into HIV. And while I know my contracting the virus wasn’t ideal, I also know people fought hard for someone like me to come along and have such a hopeful reaction. Taking Biktarvy honestly feels like taking a vitamin in the morning. Rather uneventful. I told nearly everyone in my close circle…, and they’ve all been cool about it. (Hell… a few came out and told me their statuses *which I had no idea about*) Life is good. I am thankful. Thank you again for all that you do.

My partner is HIV positive and we have dated for almost 2yrs had unprotected sex through out this two yrs and he never told me we just stated planning our wedding and he told me . I was in this disbelief the whole time till i left his place . Then the reality hit me i cried all the way home . I love this guy and didn't understand why he should be the one with it . I got over it . And we are actually getting married in December and i don't think i will ever wish for a different partner.

Be careful because undetectable status is not necessarily a permanent status. A person can become detectable and infectious again…even when treated even after years of being undetectable. It’s not common but it does happen.

Thank you. I just used your tips. Tried to be chill and go straight to the point: "I'm hiv positive, I'm medicated and I can't give it to you. Whatever you decide to do about it I respect it. If you need time to think about it, that's fine too." It worked wonderfully. I didn't make it a big deal and that's exactly how it stayed. I had experiences in the past where I made it such a huge deal and the other person was pretty much freaked out. I can't thank you enough.

I'm just beginning dating this guy. We are both older gay men. We haven't been sexual yet. When chatting with him, I disclosed my neg status and inquired about his. I noticed him dance around the issue. Then finally he told me that he is pos but has been undetectable for years and takes one pill everyday to keep him undetectable. As someone that grew up watching my friends die, I'm afraid to go further with him. He's a great guy and really likes me, and I like him. If it weren't for this virus, things would be perfect. Of course, I'm afraid of getting infected, it's normal. On the other hand, I he's a great guy. I really believe(hope) that there will be more advances in my lifetime. I don't want to not take a chance and lose him. As you can see I'm conflicted.

I wouldn't risk it TBH even if it's undetectable, and I hate saying that because the people on the channels are very brave to share their HIV stories. However, maybe you could stay friends?
@dianakoss2686

Based on the way you wrote this message, I can tell that you really do care about him and that there is indeed such a connection between you guys. Otherwise you wouldn’t be having this internal struggle. I’m someone who values deep connections in life so if you found one, I’d say go for it because such connections are rare and beautiful. Remember the person he is and how hiv is just happens to be a part of him. What I sense too is that you yourself are holding yourself back because you already had such devastating and disheartening experiences related to HIV (but not related to him personally) and you’d like to avoid it if possible. This is completely understandable. Why try to hurt yourself again. Of course in life there’s no guarantee, but with todays medication and based on him taking his daily pill, I bet he’s being as healthy as someone without HIV :) What I would want to focus on is the fact he decided to dance around the issue. I can imagine he was scared to tell you (due to stigma wherever you live?). This is something you two should have open communication about and address to ask why did he feel like he couldn’t share it so easily. Best of luck to you guys! I hope you can work it out :) whatever you choose, everything will be fine

@@dianakoss2686 Thanks for your kindness. He has been undetectable for 10 years. Takes one pill everyday and gets blood work every 6 months. I am going with him to speak with his doctor. You are correct, the heart wants what it wants. I feel guilty, like saying to him that he has a scarlet letter. He understands my concerns. He has dealt with it for a long time. It is new and scary to me. But he is a great guy. We shall see
@dianakoss2686

But this is great news - the virus is being handled well! Going to the doctors with him is a good step - actually my doctors always offered that I can bring my partners with me if they (partners) felt uneasy. Take it step by step and let time tell how it will evolve :) it sounds like you guys are understanding and willing to communicate with one another. It shows a lot from both sides so be proud of that.
