Dude, THANK YOU for showing me where and how to find that abs tester. I spent close to $500 2 years ago to get my breaks done. they didn't fix the abs, they just said they didn't know how, idiots, last time I spent money on a shop. only video online I've found of this. thank you again

Really great info. On my third old F-150. One got stolen it so nice. Having timing troubles now on my 1991 F-150 5.0 ltr. 137K. Which don't scare me. Ya just gotta keep after em. I only drive em less than 5 to 8 K a year maybe even less. Wondering about my cam now.

Thanks for the info! I put LED bulbs in my 91 Aerostar and it started giving code 11. I'll have to put regular bulbs back in it.

Great Video sir. Thanks for sharing. I have a 1996 Ford Ranger of which I bought about 3 years ago. ( I think it is called the 2nd generation of which they tell me is nothing more than just a Mazda B2000 with the Ford name plate and emblem stuck on it instead of the Mazda name plate and emblem ), When I bought it, the ABS light was staying on, and it is still on. All the local Ford Dealer will tell me is that they can't tell me why or what is wrong without running a computer diagnostic test on it and that I need to bring it in so they can run that diagnostic. They tell me that the diagnostic test will run about $150.00 plus parts and labor for them to fix the problem and they said the labor would generally be around $200.00 as their shop labor rate was $100.00 per hour so therefore I would be looking at a repair bill of at least a minimum of $480.00 total to start with. Right after I got it I had to replace all the brake pads as they were well worn down. But that still didn't cure the ABS Light on problem. Any Ideas what might be causing the continuous ABS light on problem? It's nothing that I can't live and deal with by simply ignoring it, but it is somewhat iratating especially when driving at night. Anyway, once again, A great video sir.

Run the test in the video to see what your codes are. There might be a 4wd specific test but you should be able to to perform something similar to read the codes out. It's usually just a speed sensor but you gotta figure out which one.

hey nate good video im glad you popped up into my feed somehow and i decided to watch it i learned more here already than thru the hours of time ive wasted in searches and useless information ive found... i have a 02 7.3 f250 powerstroke 4r100 im having problems with and was hoping maybe you would possibly send me in the right direction.. ive owned the truck about 7 years now and it started giving me problems intermittent the speedometer would stop working, one day being mad at it gave the dash a good whack and it popped right on (hmmm) so at that point everytime it would happen now smack the dash and there it is all good so no biggie, well of course after a bit of time smacking the dash its gotten to the point that doesnt work anymore its not working at all except one weird day one afternoon on the highway running btw 70 and 75 i look at the speedo and it saying im doing about 15mph but at the next stop nothing again, so ive read all the troubleshooting and crap i could find and thought i had it figured out and had a bad axle differential speed sensor replaced it with new one and no luck nothing, ive tested the rear vss some call it the 2 on the trans oss and tss and they show good ive replaced both front hub and rotor assemblies fairly recently the driver side front old one came out in pieces but the new assemblies had new sensors with them so idk... if one of the fronts are bad will it stop my speedo? everything ive read says the rear axle abs sensor feeds the signal.. now aalso i run an edge cts2 obd monitor set up on the truck and it has a speed pid ption in it i use and it obviously is getting signal ang registers my speed, now another thing i have that is supposed to go along with speedo not working is the odometer is usually not working either when the speedo is out but my odometer is working fine and never had any issue not working only my speedo, now ive gotten a couple other possible things that have been factors for a few guys but the information given back wasnt very detailed and worthless and i have not been able to find any info in searches helpful either, one i read about was speedo quit after doing sum work and installing stereo stuff and that i have done in my truck but i cannot find anywhere how the radio and speedo are connected somehow somewhere to see if that has caused my problem do you have any idea what the two have in common to cause this issue??? and the other possibility i thought maybe would be thr instrument cluster stepper motor for the speedobut was hoping thats not the prblem rather not mess eith the cluster and soldering unless it comes down to its 100% the known issue , but i was thinking since it was reading the 15mph on the highway not long ago that its something else and there is a signal i may try running a new wire from the rear up to the dash and cluster itself and see or to the abs module first maybe then the inst cluster... i get frustrated and aggravated to the point i quit before i throw crap and really ccause an unnecessary mess to boot ,,then ill start again digging and looking again but so far still have no speedo... any idea concerning the radio possibility what they have in common???

Were you able to find your issue? I have a 1990 E350 Class C motorhome as well, and I initially had a problem with the Rear Antilock light only being on. A few weeks later the park brake light also came on and I now have both lights displayed! Braking and drive ability have not been an issue. Sorry to bug you but I’m curious to know how you’ve made out. thanks.

Sounds like you really know your stuff! Question for you I have a 1993 ranger extended cab . I have a problem where I’m not getting any fluids to the rear brakes . I have one of those proportioning valve right under the front left wheel area on the frame an it has a wire harness going to it . Is it likely to say this is my issue?

From what I remember and have read, yes that's likely the problem. It's the only thing between the master cylinder output and the wheel cylinders and it's a common issue on these years.

I did the intro on a cold engine and the earlier 1st gens had a higher idle than the later ones.

I have a 1995 f350 and my abs light and parking brake lights came on and it smelled like burnt. The truck was parked for a long time. So being a heavy duty mechanic I went down there and smacked the drums a bit thinking they were seized just like a big rig. And sure enough I got back in and the lights were off but when I put in drive the rears were seized. And I had to give a ton of gas to even move a few inches. So I waited like 14 minutes. Put in drive and drove fine I drove straight home and as I reversed it and got off to open the gate. The brakes were seized again. I don't know what to do anymore please help I'm not familiar with cars at all.

alex ruano I'd start with flushing the brake lines. While you're under there, look at the hoses and see if they're original. If so, just replace them. The rubber can go bad and act like a one way valve. Might also be worthwhile to replace wheel cylinders too since they're cheap. If none of that fixes it, there's not too many places left and at least you know the whole rear system is done and safe.

Hmmmm I’ve got a rabs light on a 94 e250 and as soon as the light cam on while driving I lost odometer and speedometer at the same time. Now it shifts very hard. Already replaced the sensor but I’m curious what code mine will come up with

I'm not sure about the vans but on the Explorers, the odometer and speedometer are driven by an actual cable/gear from the transmission. If that's the case in yours, the only things I can think of are a rodent got a hold of the cable & wiring or you hit a pretty good sized rock and sheared these items :) If it's not cable/gear driven, it's probably all in the same wiring harness and I'd probably look for rodent damage.

My 1998 mazda B4000 has RABS with coilspring/shock setup. Light is still on even tho the sensor was replaced, checked all the wires. Thinking it's the ABS pump module under the hood.

My rabs are intermittent on my first gen explorer. Braking isn't an issue really, but my 4x won't engage if the system is down.

cool video. i have a 92 f250 with 7.5 gasser. i have a rabs code 11. light illuminates over 35 mph, stays on till trucks shut off. truck has had some problems with rats eating wires. ive swapped the motor harness from all the excessive repairs from previous owner. rats nest was found inside cab and under the bed of the truck. i replaced the sensor in the rear diff and repaired the wiring near sensor..cleared code, it popped again. scanned again, same code 11 popped. dealership replaces brake pedal sensor (free) i drive it home rabs light pops illuminates again.pull codes, 11 comes up again. dealer says emergency brake pedal needs adjustment and sensor needs replacement. i say do it as it costs me nothing. drive it home, code pops again..same damn code, 11. i do some research, repair some bad wiring. go for a drive, rabs light and code 11 comes back..again.. for the record, my 3rd brake light does illuminate when i open the door. i have no cruise control function at all, my speedometer seams to be working fine.truck shifts smooth through all gears but seams like it doesnt go into 4th gear, ever. i have upgraded all exterior bulbs with led bulbs and installed a led flasher thing to make things work as they should. all lights illuminate and blinkers flash as they should..please help me, in deep water and tiered of swimming. anyone with input, please let me know.

www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1228245-rabs-code-11-a.html Check that link. Put the regular bulbs back and make sure the 3rd brake light works properly before you start diagnosing. The cruise control circuit goes through the 3rd light and if it's not functional, it won't work.

@@LL-rz5dt yes 3rd light will light with brake application. It also is what controls the cruise control. Code 11 is for a defective circuit up there. Put the brake lights back to normal, including that one and make sure cruise control works, then you can go from there.

@@HsCSpanky good morning sir. i pulled the led bulbs from my tail lights and 3rd brale light. replaced with original bulbs. tail lights do what they should. 3rd brake light illuminates while door is open but does not illuminate while pressing brake pedal. i also switched the relay back to oem.any suggestions on where to go from here?

Why back probe? You can't use the pins inside the front of the connector?

Front probing can damage the connectors and can be difficult to not short out. Back probing in the sealed weather pack back side often results in a solid connection that doesn't move around.

Do you have the wiring diagram for the rear abs sensor? The 93 ranger i bought recently had the rear ABS sensor wires chewed off or torn, so im trying to rewire that to the correct connecting lines. I did find other torn wires near the transmission, but the wires themselves were the same color so that didn't help.

Take a look at the video and the under hood connector. You can test resistance to figure out which is which. You'll need a wire from the rear to front and then just make a big loop with the multimeter and each individual vehicle wire. It's a ghetto way to do it but it works. Alternatively of you're going to keep the ranger a while, pick up an EVTM on eBay.

@@aaroncastellanos3421 you'll probably want the EVTM as well, it's a separate book just of electrical and vacuum stuff. It's a lot of info but has helped me in a pinch a few times.

Millions of ohms is a completely open circuit (headed for infinite resistance, i.e. "no connection") Zero ohms would be a dead short.

i have zero reading. and if i connect one wire to continuity meter and to ground i get a solid beep. so is that wire grounded? or is the sensor grounded on one side?
