I have a lot of luck on it with soft muddy bottoms. To keep the bait up out of the muck.

I use the Tokyo rig with different sized swimbaits with good success. Just recently say a video where they put a finesse hook on and brought it slowly thru brush. It's a no-limits rig!

First off, congrats on AOY! Now, my favorite way to fish a tokyo rig is with a paddle tail swim bait. I just throw it out show to it across the bottom.

Love the Tokyo rig for my area of the northeast. Mostly soft and mucky bottoms. Tokyo rig helps to keep it off the bottom and into the strike zone. It’s been great for me this year!

Hey Jacob good video on the Tokyo rig. The one reason that I use two weights on the rig is if I'm going to jig the wait at all the two weights actually we'll make a clicking sound when they climb together particularly if I use tungsten. I don't remember hearing you say anything about that possibility. Other than that great video good information for those who have never tried the rig.

@@Huntn_fish365 I've used glass beads before on other rigs like the c rig of course. Had not given a thought to using it on the Tokyo rig great idea I'm going to try it next time out.

Alright so wheeler hear me out. I’ve been taking these Tokyo rigs an putting a mondo worm an putting a 3/8 weight an just dragging it along the bottom or popping it off the bottom an have been catching some at night (before we had these colder nights in Missouri)

He did you say you loose a lot of fish on the swing head rig? I honestly have not lost a fish yet with that set up been fishing it two seasons now it replaced my Texas rigging only problem they are expensive .a couple years ago I made my own Tokyo rigs exactly how you made yours up to fish heavy grass on a N.Y trip haven't used since will try them in areas where I fish the swing head, who knows maybe they will work better.I live in PA caught a 5.29 on swing head yesterday with a zoom trick worm been killing them all year with that bait biggest small mouth was 4.82 thanks for sharing

One thing about that rig that I like, fishing brush, if you get hung you can get right over it and shake it and the weight on the bottom helps free it, I have yet to break one off. And every fish is hooked right in the top of the mouth, I thought it was gonna be the end all for punching, but I tried punching with it a few weeks ago, and it's just not as good as a traditional punching set-up, but I will definitely flip brush with it and have fished it in grass edges and scattered submerged grass.

I put a slight double bend in the tip (like a lazy Z instead of L), then the milfoil here in MN just slides right off! Can be extremely weedless!

Thanks for those tips!!!👊🏻 Just started using it this year and had success on it. Like you said good in that 6-10 ft range. Didn't like it for flipping in heavy cover. Like the idea of using cylinder weights and since I do have them I'll give them a try. Congrats on AOY!!👍🏻 Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
