The Tokaryk Special was originally a successful variation of a Wooly Bugger featuring a black marabou tail, green Crystal Chenille body, and palmered black hackle. It was an extremely popular fly on the productive trout lakes located in S.W. Manitoba.
Over the years my friends and I tweaked this proven pattern so it was better suited to suspend under an indicator. The core colors remained the same green and black. This latest version, the Tokaryk Special 2.0 is tied on a 60-degree jig hook and uses a Tungsten Head Turner bead to help balance it.
This version works great when trout are feeding on leeches, darker minnows, and even when focused on green-colored zooplankton.
