Randall Kaufmann's Marabou Damsel is a classic stillwater fly pattern that I believe belongs in every stillwater fly box. Simplicity personified, this easy-to-tie fly pattern contains all of the properties necessary for any good damselfly nymph pattern.
The Marabou Damsel is an excellent choice when damsels are migrating toward shore to emerge or as an exploratory pattern in and around weed beds. A slow five turn hand twist retrieve punctuated with prolonged pauses does an excellent job of mimicking the natural nymph's swimming motion.
