Coming from from England I wish it was acceptable for non Sikhs to wear a turban. They could be such a fashion statement as well but I feel this may be seen as an insult to the Sikh community by trivialising their headdress rather than paying homage & respecting them. The sad truth is some small part of our society would ruin it for the rest of us. Respect to the Sikhs...👍

As far as ceremonies go, the very first time a Sikh is about to tie their turban, a ceremony is necessary as far as I know where all relatives and friends come and the guy gets his turban tied by an uncle from his mother's side of the family as a honorable guest. Other than that one particular time, no blessing is required at all.

Just a word of note, this style is not traditional but a style made popular in the 1920s to 1930s by the Maharaja of Patiala hence the style is called Patiala. This is the style popularly worn by Sikhs in the Punjab today although there were a myriad of styles during the 40s, 50s and 60s.The traditional style is called Dhumalla and is more rounded in appearance. It was considered a safe and stable head covering to be worn in battle. Dhumalla was worn by the tenth master Guru Gobind Singh when he bestowed the gift of the turban to the Sikhs

ThePoeticPariah I wouldn't say it is offensive but I kind of worry about is that when people Tie Turban and Do negative things, say something stupid. That just create a negative image about Sikhs. Sikhs wear Turban to protect their uncut hairs and in the center of our head is a chakkra, where you experience the bliss and connect to God and long hairs help to create that energy. It is like a crown and symbol of respect. Also, I am not just talking about the people that are not Sikhs from the background but the people who Are, Doesn't care sometime. Yes, you can wear it, Sikhs believe in equality, You can tie a Turban, U can go to gurudwara( sikh Temple), Listen to Kirtan, Eat langar( free food for everyone in Gurudwara). Linda Carter I'm not Sikh, I'm afraid. I've studied a little bit about them and know some of the basics because I find the religion/ideology fascinating, but I'm Asatru, personally, which means I worship the ancient Norse gods and goddesses. If I thought seriously that I could ahere to the purity and structure of Sikh life I might consider possibly converting, but to be honest with myself, they seem like far better people and far more strongly-willed than I might find it within myself to be on a daily basis.

Oh, my respects to you. So does that mean that every man I've seen with a silver bracelet is a Sikh? Sometimes, I have seen men with a silver bracelet but no turban? Are they still considered Sikh?

Do sikhs bless the turban cloth when they are making it? Just a curiosity question.
