The Twisted Sculpin is a great sculpin imitation streamer pattern that works well when fishing for trout. Adapted from an Alaskan fly we have found that it fishes well in the Rockies when fished as a small size. You can use this fly to target predator species like brown trout, rainbow, and cutthroat. Trout and even salmon find it hard to resist. It is tied on a 60 degree jig hook. The hook rides upright, saving the point dulling rocks and snags. And, when a fish slashes at the fly, it usually ends up hooked in the roof of the mouth. Double win for the jig version of the Twisted Sculpin. So grab your vice and get jiggy with it.
